I’ve never actually made a horror game let alone make a PS1 styled game. So I do apologise if I haven’t replicated anything perfectly. However, I do need feedback and suggestions about:
1: Should I use Flashlight? Or should I use the Lantern 2: Is there any suggestions for what I could do for the forest? 3: Any improvements I can consider
Just thought i’d mention aswell: The last video is a demonstration of one of the entities, it’s able to phase through anything and if you look at it, you slow down.
Hey! I don’t know if you’ve gotten to that stage yet but i really recommend messing around with the lighting and adding some ps1 style UI, you can use those of games from Puppet Combo for inspiration.
Honestly, I wouldn’t know any specific tips but the only thing I can say is to keep things extremely simple. Like for the bushes in my game, instead of creating some jagged plane shape in blender and importing it into roblox, I just used a part and added a beam inside of it so that it always follows the player’s camera
lantern or flashlight depends on your background story
latern you may want to add some light flickering
the beam in the flashlight seems a bit distracting. and it is common to add a texture (light cookie) to mimic the flashlight bulb pattern (but i dont know if roblox support that)
This PS1-style horror game looks EXCELLENT! Great job on it! It’s cool! How long did it take to make this game? I rate it 9/10! Keep the lantern, it’s better for the game.
True, the context of the game is: "It has been three years since that night; The night they were ripped apart by it. Their screams still echo in your mind, strangled and wet, swallowed by the suffocating blackness of the forest. No one believed you when you told them what happened. No bodies were ever found, just the shredded remnants of their remains, soaked in something too dark to be blood.
Now, you’re back. Not because you want to be, but because their belongings are still out there; Scattered between the roots of ancient trees, lost in the endless thicket where the air is too still, too heavy. You move carefully, each step muffled by the damp earth, your breath shallow as you scan the gloom. The deeper you go, the more the trees seem to close in, their twisted limbs clawing at the sky. And then, the feeling starts again You’re not alone."
absolute yap of a story but that is the description of the game
Thank you for telling me about flickering for the lantern and the flashlight issues though I really appreciate it
It’s unrealistic for a flashlight (basically a lantern) to clear a wide range of area. You should tone down the range of the light, probably the brightness down too. Actually, the brightness being high helps with the PS1 style so maybe keep it as is.
