Windows 11 FOREVER!!! I LIKE BLOOM WALLPAPER AND ENHANCED SECURITY USING TPM!
i mean why do people still use windows 7
if you have a bad pc move to linux
edit: ok move to w10 if terminal scares you boo
edit but another: also i agree that roblox studio should be avaiable on linux for users that still were using w7, as at least its being updated
Linux is so much more compatable and dosent come with the windows junk and problems like support.
people have ran windows 11 on a pentium 4 from 2004 youd be fine
tpm doesnt do anything outside of like if you work at the fbi besides do lock in
cant transfer your data if its all bitlocker encrypted with a tpm
Yall even though this doesn’t effect me at all, I’m just gonna have to quit, this hits WAYYY to close to home, its gonna make me cry.
Seriously though this is an AMAZING update, good job roblox, another banger update.
i love how this just turned into just an os inconsistency rant
i havent tried this out myself but theres this flatpak integrated build that would be worth a shot, supports a ton of distros. dont know if its your same version but im just throwing it out there
What a great update!
I can see why support for Windows 8.1< will be removed. Now they don’t have to check if the new updates don’t really lag out people with a lower operating system.
the fact some people r probably complaining about this
running a w11 debloat script takes 2 mins btw, and disable all the telemetry bs with winaero tweaker. stop being drama queens and upgrade already.
cutting support for them will be a very good thing, as it means there can be more development time spent on new features & optimisations
Linux support for only Roblox Studio would be nice, though. I can’t rely on the developers for Vinegar because they are so incompetent that I had to downgrade to an older version of Studio just for it to launch on my Arch Linux machine. Roblox Studio support is really the only thing holding me back from fully migrating from Windows.
vinegar developers arent working that much on vinegar because their focus were moved to the development of sober
but i agree with what you said
Well, while it may run, Windows 11 would definitely experience majorly reduced performance
Yeah, every time I’ve tried 11 I’ve had severe performance issues. Not even in the “new software” way, in a “even benchmarkers of the newest hardware have noticed up to 25% less FPS on Windows 11” way. Like in “running a core 2 duo on a HDD without spectre patches disabled on windows 10 is more bearable” way. Its a straight up joke.
EDIT: 12h after this post my explorer crashed (taskbar and all) on my laptop after i tried to navigate to the home tab in a file window. Like the new laptop i got that came with windows 11 thats supposed to be the cutting edge technology that runs it well. if that can’t run it without issues then windows 11 is just bad
EDIT 2: apparently on 22h2 if you switch between home and documents fast enough (within 20 seconds) it fully crashes explorer. neat.
Attempt to use the file manager to manage files
explorer.exe crashes
What an incredible operating system!
What’s going through the heads of the people who thought this was a good idea when there are so many alternative ways you can build a compatible program without any extra work? They don’t seem to have a problem with supporting Android 6, along with the iPhone 5s and iOS 12, while they have issues with supporting Windows 7-8.1?
Luckily, VxKex might be a lifesaver in this regard. Once this obviously artificial block takes place, it should be extremely trivial to run it under that in order to continue developing on this platform.
How is this ensuring creators have the best experience when using Studio? In recent versions, all I’ve experienced are countless bugs that are being implemented and never patched as a result of moving everything over from Qt to Lua.
Also, when I say that this is an artificial change, I’d like to bring attention to how the person who’s communicating this change is hiding behind the Roblox sock-puppet account and can’t even give us a proper reason for doing this.
Compared to when they ended support for Windows XP and Vista, where they had a real human being communicating to us about this change, and had put actual reasoning behind it (asides from the muh security updates talking point that’s spouted about with every single OS and program that “goes out of date”):
None of that is said in this announcement, unfortunately confirming that this was most likely done just because.
Will we ever get any form of true response from staff or engineers in regards to this topic? This seems too big of a move for radio silence.
Once again, as I mentioned before, I’ll be “upgrading” once I can replicate my exact setup over there without suffering performance consequences. Maybe on Windows Server 2019, but I don’t think Roblox supports that because of artificial blocks, but I’m probably incorrect.
Oh damn it I was just going to downgrade Windows 8.1 because it is really usable for me still to this day.
Roblox, it is time for more features that boost framerates and more customizability for graphics. The community is literally asking for years!
upgraded to 23h2 on that laptop and same thing
this is why i wont upgrade my desktop to 11
next thing going on this desktop is Linux actually this thing is what? a 2017 desktop? may just keep it on 10 specifically to use windows specific programs
How is my epic 5 pound gaming laptop (its not for gaming) supposed to open studio now??? (this is a joke)
If support for 8.1 and 7 are starting to be cut then support for older mobile devices that hold back the platform also need to be cut, i have seen many many replies about it on this post and it can’t be ignored forever. Devs want more from this platform, and lil timmy on his first gen IPhone shouldn’t hold us back.
Also a moment of respect for Windows 7, rest in peace the best os ever created it’s a shame we will never get an os as clean as 7 ever again. Gone are the days when you owned your pc, bow down to Microsoft or swap to Linux.
yeah, those phones that barely support running a browser shouldnt be allowed to run roblox. those are what is holding back the platform, not windows 7 support
Windows 10 is next, since the security support is ending in febuary of 2025, in 2026_2027 we’re dead…
