Takes only an hour to make. Hundreds of ships in my game!
Super Detailed
(incomplete)
Takes forever. 4-10 ships in my game.
For a space ship-commanding game. I’m worried too many details will confuse the silhouette of the ship and make it harder to see on the space skybox - but i’m also worried people will see my game as noobish if I use the simple one.
Perhaps somewhere inbetween? Also feedback on my super detailed?
Can you tell which ship it is, and from what franchise?
For this if you used the super detailed one you can add more neon parts so its more visible or make it stand out but personally something in between might be a good approach.
It depends on what game you’re making. If you’re making a showcase game, definitely the detailed one.
If you’re making a kid’s game, maybe not the super detailed spaceship because they might think it’s too confusing and have too many things to look at.
If you’re making a low poly, cartoony game, definitely the simplistic spaceship.
If you’re making a high poly game, definitely the super detailed space ship.
As for mid poly, maybe something between?
(It still depends on game.)
Hope this helped!
I believe the simple model is the best one if you want to make some sort of combat game, or a massive roleplay.
I might be wrong, but it’s because I personally love low poly models.
TL;DR: if the game is gonna be simulator-is do simple, if it’s strategy/skill based do detailed
For a space ship commanding game I would probably say the detailed one if it’s not a game that depends solely on the ships (their stats like dmg speed etc i guess like a simulator where you do stuff to get op ships) and the game is more about skill then choose the detailed one. You’d just have a few different ships that vary in stats with some maybe slightly stronger but how good you are at the game would rely on your skill mainly. It could also depend on your targeted age range of player (younger or older). I’d play the game with the detailed ship. It looks epic (although I don’t know what it’s from).
Hope this helps and good luck with your game @OneRubySky !
I don’t think you have to worry about having too much details as long as it’s neat, you can always make parts stick out more. It depends on what you’re trying to achieve for your game.
