My brother, Tiger12289, has been working on a survival type building game with ideas from Rust. It’s turning out pretty cool and thought you guys would be interested.
He’s making everything custom, including the Inventory. I believe he’s making the organization similar to minecraft (items will stack, items picked up will go to the end, etc.) The tool system itself is custom made. It doesn’t use a tool, but instead welds the item you your arm and positions it.
Wow! That’s a really, really cool game. Amazing what he already has done in such a short time window.
I am working on a survival game for over 2 years already. My first attempt has failed completely - the code is all messy and the game isn’t really fun. But, there is a LOT of content in it… every time I see it again I still think: wow, how did I manage to put so much stuff in!
I’m currently working on a new version of it. It is really good - especially in the technical part of it. It’s not scripted like a normal roblox game, but with an API and a framework, with scaleability in the back of the mind.
I would really talk some things through with your brother - about gameplay ideas, for example. If he would like, he can join freenode’s IRC on channel #SurvivalGames. I’m there to talk about these type of games.
I really like the custom backpack and the building system is also extremely cool. I’m only wondering what happens if you remove the “base plate” of the building: does it fall down? Or does it float? (A better solution would be that you cannot delete baseplates).
I’m wondering if this is going to be the straightforward survival game, or more like rust which has - as far as I can see on the game page and trailer - a bigger focus on fighting and looting (like, say, gameplay between survival 404 and apocalypse rising?). Where can we place this game in that “scale” ?

He made it so you cannot delete the base until all the walls are removed first. In fact, I helped him record this video yesterday featuring that.
I’ve been working on the second version of a Rudimentality game called island with sort of the feel of rust. Though I hate saying rust type because I thought of the idea of a really hardcore survival game before rust came about. With eating people and all that jazz.
