Suspected Backdoor

Hello,

I’ve been working on a game and been looking through game files and I suddenly find this

Is this malicious and if it is how can I find the source of it?

You may have a plugin installed that is injecting backdoors.

You may have a malicious plugin.

Or, if you used in free models in your game, it may have contained malicious scripts. If you haven’t I suspect that it is a plugin.

I’ve looked on my other games and they aren’t there so I’m a bit confused

Did you install a new plugin by chance? Or does another person have Edit access to your game?

Nope all my plugins are the same and all of them are trusted

I would say it is a free model then if you remember inserting any.

This game is an old game and I wasn’t the first guy in charge so I don’t have a clue of what it could be, theres over 20K parts at least.

What were you doing?

Were you:

  • Installing a Plugin?

  • Inserting a Free Model?

  • Buying Items off the Creator Marketplace?

  • Nothing? (Probably not)

I would doubt that, sleitnick found a pretty convincing copy of his plugin which turned out to be a backdoor. Don’t underestimate them.

Yikes… Try copying the name of it and press control-f and then paste it and see if you find any scripts that contain that name.

Try using the Tool Find All / Replace All, it may help

Yeah, also if you have any scripts in the game that arent yours try deleting them

Hmm, I can’t really help you beyond there. I would delete the folder and if it comes back I would look carefully at all your plugins and make sure it is not in any scripts. Good luck!

Don’t know how to explain it to you but this is a very old community and I managed to get ownership of it, this game has most likely had 10+ different people in studio and this community goes all the way back to 2016.

If you’re in contact with the at least 10 people ask them if they configured anything, also, are you not able to delete the DebuggerManager?

Doesn’t allow me for some reason I tried deleting the 2 suspicious things but just spawns back in. Is there like an insert logger or something?

I doubt I’ll be able to ask them and I’m pretty sure not all of them were clean people and had malicious intent to the game.
