Alright, I enjoy the concept of the game, but the gameplay is too stale to capture player’s attention for long.
Issues:
1.) 2 players at a time, every time. This means that in a full server 8 people are left waiting.
2.) There is no order, so certain people can be placed into a match multiple times, leaving one guy waiting for 5 minutes before he’s gotten a chance to try the game. I suggest adding a queue.
3.) Draws are extremely common in this game. I recommend adding a system similar to Super Smash Brothers percentage system, where every hit increases their percentage by x amount, and they get pushed farther back based on that value.
4.) There is a lack of variety. There are only two moves you can do to defeat your opponent, and your opponent can do those same moves. I suggest adding(even if you make them buyable) different move sets. Maybe a sword thrust, or parrying?
5.) With 2 player rounds, why do you have an intermission? That’s making 10 people wait an extra 12 seconds, effectively wasting everyone’s time.
To recap, my suggestions would be to:
Have either more than one game going at the same time in a server, or at least having different games modes(teams, free for all, etc) that involve more than 2 players
Add a queue of people so that it is fair and people don’t need to wait an upwards of 5 minutes to play the game
Percentage system similar to Super Smash Bros that increases knockback strength based on the number of times the other player has been hit
More(buyable) move sets to increase variety
Remove the intermissionor add an advertisement system similar to Alexnewtron’s in his Wheel of Fortune game.
I like Chaotic’s suggestions, however the server I joined didn’t appear to be working. We were just kind of sitting around in the stands
Edit: Was able to play. Not bad, but I can’t give an accurate review with my internet connection it seems…
My old trolling technique with it:
-start
–pirate
–one of a few choices
—annoying
—super annoying
–trololol
-return to start
I might have forgotten a few, but with these alone it can get really repetitive and really annoying really quickly and is very likely to drown out all sounds except maybe a select few. Chat voice is fun and all, just leaves too much room for trolling ruining it for those who want to use it or want to hear sounds matching what others are thinking or feeling that are shared via it.
If there is a server with a lot of players with 5x chance of being chosen to duel, that leaves the player with 1x chance at a very, very, very low chance of even playing thus giving you a thumbs down for waiting so long to play one duel. To combat this, you should add team battles and make the stage a little larger during them. There should be team battles every, 2 rounds maybe and include every player.
Edit: wow I should’ve read chaotic’s post before posting… But still, person with 1x chance will rarely get the chance to play #NBCFeedback!
