It is fairly common for collaboration topics to only include few details of the job offer(s). Details about the pay might be missing or really vague, the developer’s expectations could be worded poorly or there might be no estimate for how much work has to be done. Usually this leads to the first few responses asking for more information or giving tips on how to improve the original post. This is obviously undesired. I therefore propose that for this specific category, a template is added just like how there is a template for bug reports and feature requests.
Things that would be good to include into a template - but not limited to:
-
Payment
– What is a developer willing to pay for the work that needs to be done?
– What payment method will be used? PayPal? Group pay-outs? -
Time Frame
– When does the work need to be done?
– How long are you expected to collaborate for? -
Work quality & quantity
– A developer should know beforehand if his/her skills are good enough to participate in the collaboration.
– Reference images are awesome reference material to include.
– How much work is there to be done? -
Communication info
– How does a developer apply for the given position? A reply? A private message on Discourse? Roblox?
– What platform is used for communication during the collaboration? Roblox? Skype? Discord? -
Work ethics
– How does the developer collaborate? Is it purely Team Create or just sharing files?
– What kind of mentality is expected from a developer?
– How often should a developer keep the manager up to date? -
About the poster
– How much experience does the poster have?
– What role does the poster have during the collaboration?
– What can I expect from my boss? -
About the project (Thanks to @Billy_Dodo)
– What is my work going to contribute towards?
– Why should I be excited to be doing this work?
Numbers 4 and 5 have some overlap, but the final say of course isn’t in my hands. I think a template which includes most of the points that I described could make some good improvements to the collaboration section.
