Template layout in Studio could use some more thought

Current layout in Studio:

  • Haphazard ordering of templates with seemingly no rhyme or reason for me as an end user
  • Arbitrary division between “theme” and “gameplay”
  • Very wide range of fidelity options between templates and templates are not sorted by fidelity option (see screenshot)

Advanced users come to the template page to pick baseplate and go.

New users probably want to check out the higher fidelity / more complete templates first and don’t really care about the lower fidelity / older templates.

The distinction between “theme” and “gameplay” seems to benefit the newer user more than the advanced user. Some templates are neither in Theme nor in Gameplay tab.

The view is hard to use for either use case, need to do a lot of visual scanning to find what I want. I think ideally there are no tabs and the content is laid out here with a bit more detail on what each (set of) templates offers to me as a new creator.

A new creator wouldn’t know what to select over other templates, there’s no information except for title and thumbnail.
