This is something I’m sure everyone here will appreciate because it would not only provide a developers that are level designers more freedom to their work. It would also open up new possibilities to what the ROBLOX Engine can handle. While you have a few materials you currently use in the studio to create hills and so on. I’m sure you also want a tool that would allow you to design a more unique landscape for a wasteland, cave, island, and race tracks even.
As we all know it is understandably difficult to create these lush worlds with hills, foliage, and so on with triangles and sphere. Nothing about it is too pretty when you are especially using bricks to sometimes make up for rocks. Now usually in some cases we make up for the lack of materials with our own textures we upload for higher quality designs. I know though this is not everybody and that is well noted.
However if we could just be able to select and load in our own texture assets with the same settings as the texture object, while still being used like a normal terrain material. We could make more unique landscapes that make using the terrain tool much for handy and special. It would no longer be the sort of beginners way of making levels who are new to level design.
Optional: If we could be able to also load in our own normal maps and/or bump maps it would also increase some of the dynamic quality of the landscape and not to mention geometry detail without sacrificing hardly any of workload required to run a game with a good framerate. That is if it’s programmed efficiently into the engine.
