Hello Developers,
Yes, its me. Your favorite insanely large terrain map maker with yet another terrain editor bug.
It’s as simple as the title. The terrain replace tool does not work consistetly. The only fix is to restart studio. It’s a bit hard to reproduce, as it seems to happen at random. It’s also worth noting that this only happens with large terrain. The bug is that it claims the region size is too large. What is odd about that is I’ve done much larger sizes and it worked perfectly fine. Here is a video of this happening in action:

(apologies for low fps, sharex is acting weird.)
Repro Steps
Here are the repro steps, like I said, it appears to happen at random but I could be wrong:
- Open a fairly large terrain file.
- Open Terrain Editor and click on the Replace tool.
- Drag the box so it covers the section you want to replace.
- Select the source and target materials.
- Hit replace, and nothing happens. Clicking it multiple times does nothing.
Output logs
Here is what is in the output logs:
Again, it’s worth noting that the bug is the fact that it claims the region size is too large – I’ve done it with much larger regions and it has worked fine – so I do not think that is related.
If a change was made that I am unaware of, please let me know, and I’ll open a feature request instead. Also, if you have something to add on, feel free to let me know. I can give a repro file if requested by staff, I do not want to make it public, as I cannot have this stolen.
Thanks,
@FxllenCode
