Text in SurfaceGui's TextBox in wrong location while editing

Reproduction Steps

Place a SurfaceGui in StarterGui. Set its Adornee to a part in workspace. Add a TextBox to this SurfaceGui. Test on a mobile device.

This bug can be reproduced by playing the following game link on a mobile device:

Tap the TextBox on the part to enter text and notice how your typed text does not appear where you expect.

Devices tested so far include Samsung Galaxy S22 and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Expected Behavior

I expect for the text in the TextBox to render as it would on PC. The text should be properly aligned within the textbox.

Actual Behavior

As shown in the above screenshot, the text actually renders in the viewport at the wrong location. The location appears to be as if the TextBox is a ScreenGui and projects the text onto the viewport instead of the part’s surface.

Can you give me the uncopylocked version in my discrod “imyrnz#5216”

You should just ask them to set the game to be uncopylocked? Or send a repro place file here?

By the way, Rhyles you should do that.

I have now made it uncopylocked.

Does parenting the Gui to something other than StarterGui fix the issue?

Thanks for the report! We’ll follow up when we have an update for you.

Hello!

Has there been any developments on this bug?

Thanks!

This issue is still ongoing and affecting my game. We are currently using a work around that appears to cause issues on select devices.
