Textures missing or importing incorrectly

You can write your topic however you want, but you need to answer these questions:

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
I am attempting to import my fbx file into roblox studio, but everytime I attempt to do so, it appears as though some textures are missing.

  2. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
After I had finished texturing my object from blender in substance painter, I export the textures from substance painter as blender templates (I have also tried Roblox (MaterialVariant) template). The textures appear in blender fine, but upon exporting the now textured mesh as an fbx into studio, it seems as though some textures are missing. (Or as though roblox does not support such textures?) I’ve included two photos with the first being from blender, pre export, and the second being in studio, post import.

  1. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?
I’m using substance painter to texture, so I’ve attempted to change the output template from blender to both Roblox types, MaterialVariant and SurfaceAppearance. I have not been able to find any topics on this, but any insight as to why this may occur would be very useful.

Thank you.

After that, you should include more details if you have any. Try to make your topic as descriptive as possible, so that it’s easier for people to help you!

Hey @timefast! How are you doing?

  1. Have you exported the mesh textures as “Roblox (SurfaceAppearence)” on Substance 3D Painter?
  2. After that, did you “import” the PBR (Physically-Based Rendered) textures on Blender correctly?
  3. How did you import the mesh and which file type did upload on Roblox Studio?

Did you use multiple textures for your mesh? You might have to bake your materials into one texture map.

yeahhhhhh, or separate the different materials onto different parts.

also if its procedural you will have to bake it as Roblox doesn’t translate nodes.

I had already tried exporting the mesh textures as “Roblox (SurfaceAppearance)” and afterwards, assigning them to the mesh in blender and exporting as a fbx. Just doing that did not work, but applying a SurfaceAppearance object as a child of the meshpart in studio and then assigning each individual texture map in its properties did fix the issue.

Thank you everyone for your help!
