The End of Roblox Pokemon

Hello to everybody who takes the time to read this post. My name is Sean, although I am often known by my online alias as either “Uglypoe”, “Ugly”, or “Poe”.

As of earlier this morning, the copyright holders for Pokemon have issued a blanket take down of all Pokemon games on the Roblox platform. All of us Pokemon game developers have expected this since the shutdown of Pokemon Brick Bronze several months ago.

Pokemon Fighters EX started as a passion project in late 2011. I was inspired by the games Pokemon Arena X and Pokemon Legends, and I intended to try to put my own spin on the genre. Later in 2015, the current version of Pokemon Fighters EX was released. For over 3 years, myself and many close friends worked to build it up to where it is today. We are proud of how far it has come.

It has been an amazing 3+ years working on PFE. I’ve enjoyed every second of it and I truly wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’ve made so many new friends and learned so much more. I’m confident that I can begin to work on my own new (and original) projects using all the knowledge I’ve gained.

FAQ:

  • Q: Will these games return?
A: Probably not. Pokemon is a copyrighted franchise and the copyright holders are fully in their rights to shut down these games.

  • Q: What’s next?
A: I personally plan to continue my developmental career on Roblox, but I intend on steering away from any and all copyrighted material. I began working on a new game called Eradication a few months ago in preparation for this day.

Thank you all for sticking with us. The support has been amazing and we are glad that we got to provide some entertainment, even if it was only for a little while.
