DISCLAIMER: This guide is still a Work-In-Progress and there is still a lot of information I plan to add, such as recruitment methods for each public department.
The Foundation is also in its very early stages.
Welcome to The Foundation, a Top-Secret government sector dedicated to the protection of humanity against the universe’s strangest creatures, ranging from all kinds of things such as killer statues to psychic watermelons.
Joining The Foundation
If you’re interested in joining The Foundation, send a join request and wait to be accepted. Our bot will automatically accept your request if you’re not blacklisted and promote you to Class-D. This may take a short while depending on whether the bot is online or not. As I am currently home-hosting, there will be a few hours of downtime every day until I find a better solution.
As a Class-D, you will be subject to tests on our anomalous entities known as SCPs. These SCPs have all kinds of different traits, which is why you’ll be needed to help out the Scientific Department by complying. 100% compliance may result in survival!
Ranks and Promotions:
Class-E Suspension
Why am I a Class-E?
You may be ranked “Class-E” for two reasons-
- You just joined the group and are pending promotion to Class-D by the TF_Manager bot. (Assuming the below is false)
- You have broken multiple rules of the group, and the Internal Security Department has determined a CE Sentence is necessary. You can appeal through the Ethics Committee. See below for more information.
What is the Class-E rank for?
We have the Class-E rank to act as a temporary suspension position for those who break multiple / major Foundation laws. Those in the Class-E rank are not able to communicate with any other personnel except via our official Discord, which can be found in the Social Links area under the group.
Class-D Test Subjects
Overview:
The Class-D rank is given to those who have just joined The Foundation and have not yet applied for Level-0 clearance. Class-D Personnel are subject to whatever tests the Scientific Department may need to conduct regarding the SCPs.
Class-C Personnel
How do I become a Class-C?
At the end of every month The Foundation hosts applications for Level - 0 Clearance, which is required if you want to become a Class-C Personnel. The Level - 0 Clearance application consists of basic questions regarding The Foundation and your experience as a Class-D.
What can Class-C Personnel do?
Class-C Personnel have access to a larger range of the facility, meaning they can explore. (To a restricted area, of course- This is a top secret facility we’re talking about.)
Class-C Personnel are also able to join Departments, all of which have their own individual tasks you can read about below.
Class-B Personnel
How do I become a Class-B?
Unlike the Class-C rank, Class-B cannot be applied to. However, this rank can be attained by passing a vote of confidence among the Class-A after being recommended by any current Class-B+.
Asking to be promoted is NOT recommended.
What can Class-B Personnel do?
Being a Class-B has many benefits, the most obvious of which include being eligible for Class-A (see below).
Class-B Personnel gain access to a private channel on the Discord server and have direct contact with the Intelligence Agency via said channel.
Class-A Personnel
Overview
The Class-A rank consists of those who are Directors of departments and IA/ISD directorate members. Becoming a Class-A is extremely difficult, as it is the second-highest rank in The Foundation aside from The Administrator himself. As with Class-B, asking to be a Class-A is not recommended.
Developers
Overview
Developers are, as the name implies, The Foundation’s primary development team for all of our facilities and other games. Becoming an official developer is extremely difficult due to the nature of their “job” and the need to protect game security as much as possible. As with Class-A and Class-B, you cannot ask to be promoted.
Manufacturing Department
Alternatively, The Foundation has a department known as the MaD, or Manufacturing Department. They assist the Developers by creating assets for them when requested. To learn more, see below “Logistics” tab.
Administrative Staff Titles:
O5 Councillor
Overview
The O5 Council in this Foundation consists of at most 13 individuals who can come from any background. The Council’s only job is to propose and vote on new rules (laws) when necessary, working with both the EC and ISD to ensure Foundation Security. The identities of all Councillors are kept strictly secret in-par with the actual O5-Council lore. As a result, the Council may have any number of members but will always have a maximum of 13.I’ve said “Council” a lot here, but bare with me for this last bit:
The Council does NOT consist solely of Directors. Being a Director of a department does not guarantee an invitation to the Council as it is entirely independent of all departments.
Departments:
All Departments are split into five categories:
- Intelligence - IA and ISD
- Legislature - DEA and EC
- Logistics - MaD and E&T
- Military - MTF and SD
- Research - MD and ScD
To join any department, you must be at least a Class-C Personnel.
Intelligence
All Intelligence Departments are strictly invite-only.
Intelligence Agency (IA)
Although I aim to follow the lore as strictly as possible, here is where I must make an exception. In almost every SCPF I have seen the IA is tasked with infiltrating other groups and trying to tear them down, which only ever ends in drama and achieves nothing else except ruin people’s image of the genre.
Instead of the childish infiltration/attacking, I have chosen to repurpose the IA to strictly moderation of both our Discord server(s) and games. As a result, the IA is similarly difficult to get into due to the importance of protecting our games from exploiters and only consists of those who show competence and dedication to the group.
Internal Security Department (ISD)
The ISD, aka the Internal Security Department, is similar to the ISD in lore- acting as a “Foundation within the Foundation”. They are responsible for handling Foundation Blacklists, Class-E Sentences and working closely with the Ethics Committee and O5 Council to ensure Foundation Security.
Legislature
Department of External Affairs (DEA)
The Department of External Affairs, or DEA, acts as the main diplomats of The Foundation. Their role is simple- maintain as many positive relations as possible and where deemed necessary work on negotiations to do this. In some cases, a Group of Interest (GOI), may be considered an enemy as they pose a direct threat to the Foundation. An example of this is the Chaos Insurgency- one of the Foundation’s oldest enemies in lore.
Ethics Committee (EC)
The Ethics Committee, less formally known as simply “The Committee”, is responsible for reviewing containment procedures and determining when there has been inappropriate use of Class-D Test Subjects or other Foundation assets, as well as handling appeals for Class-E sentences and Foundation Blacklists.
The Ethics Committee is also responsible for the upkeep of the Code of Ethics, official legislation which helps them clearly determine and outline what is ethical and what is not to do. For example, putting all the Class-D Test Subjects together and giving them one pistol to fight over is NOT ethical. Looking at you, Jack. How did that guy even get the clearance to do that??
Military
Military Departments can only be joined via attending a tryout. There are no applications.
Mobile Task Forces (MTF)
Security Department (SD)
Research
Medical Department (MD)
The Medical Department within The Foundation is responsible for the wellbeing of all on-site personnel. Due to the nature of the Foundation’s work, the Medical Department will often need to handle difficult to treat and unusual situations. Sometimes the use of medical SCPs will be used to assist with the recovery of personnel, therefore researching these SCPs to fully understand their effects and any potential dangers is required.
Scientific Department (ScD)
One of the primary goals of The Foundation is to understand how SCPs work. We require this information to help the Manufacturing Department improve containment procedures to ensure the safekeeping of SCPs and prevent as many breaches as possible. This information is obtained through tests that the Scientific Department often conduct using Class-D as their test subjects.
Foundation Games:
(RP) ABRA-13
ABRA-13 is the current game being worked on for The Foundation. Currently, most details are kept private until we open up to public beta testing.
Applications Hub
The Applications Hub is, as the name implies, the place to join if you intend to apply for a promotion. At the moment we utilise myCenter, a free to use service with easy app management.
