I am aware that this issue has been reported before, but I would like to formally bring attention to a persistent bug affecting the Roblox toy code item “The Great Sword of Justice.”
Recently, this item was updated in a way that causes it to automatically appear on a player’s back in any game that allows melee gear. However, it no longer functions as a proper gear item because the tool handle was replaced with a part accessory. As a result, the item does not appear in the in-game inventory, and there is no way to equip or unequip it.
This creates a frustrating experience for players who own the item, as it remains on their back permanently in applicable games without any way to remove it. Additionally, since Roblox has removed the ability to delete items from one’s inventory, there is no user-side solution to this issue.
Expected behavior
Restore the tool handle so that the item can function as an equippable gear, allowing players to take it on and off as intended or
change the item’s classification from “Gear” to “Back Accessory” so that it behaves consistently with other accessories rather than automatically appearing in games that allow melee gear.
I appreciate any attention that can be given to this issue, as while the idea of the sword being a back accessory is interesting, having it forcibly equipped in games can be inconvenient and unwanted.
It’s not supposed to be a gear though. I believe it was supposed to be a back accessory and was mistakenly uploaded as a gear. It has no scripts in it for swinging the sword or anything. And is positioned like a back accessory.
I think Roblox should recategorize it if that’s possible.
This is kinda sad to hear because this item is basically useless to its owners. Its a gear but cannot even function as a gear in game but its also technically an accessory which cannot even be seen in game if the game does not have gears enabled.
Thank you for flagging this. We will not be making any updates, as this was the original, intended way to use this sword. Unfortunately, we are not able to change Accessory Type after release.
I feel like it’d be best to just repurpose it into a gear as to not cause a bad experience for anyone who owns this item. It doesn’t need scripts or anything; just at least make it a holdable prop.
From my perspective, if a sword was originally uploaded as a “Gear” asset type then I’d expect it to actually be a gear, not a broken accessory. It’s unfortunate that you can’t change asset types after release but what else can you do?
This feels like a pretty big issue if you’re forced to equip this accessory in any game that allows melee gear and you can’t take it off no matter what. That makes me glad I don’t own this item…
