Unlike the 2016-202x leaderboard, the new leaderboard (as part of the new experience chrome ui) has for many years truncated usernames (including display names) and stat names. However, this problem was fixed for usernames and display names for a couple of years until recently when it was un-fixed. This problem was also never addressed for stat-names despite many experiences using stat names of such a length (and many easy options to rectify the issue such as making the stat column width match the stat name or enabling text scaling for stat names).
Examples of the problem:
Interestingly in my examples shown, the username is only truncated when there is no stat present, while when there is one, it is displayed correctly. You can also clearly see that there is no reason for my username to have been truncated here when there is plenty of space for the remaining characters in the space for it, and the same goes for the leaderboard stat (its literally missing 3 letters, and also oddly seems centered in the column rather than left-aligned like the username). This begs the question of whether the introduction of a second stat would remove the truncation of the name of the first, however I do not have an experience with two or more stats to verify this.
Expected behavior / action
The leaderboard should support the longest possible username AND display names allowed by the username system.
The leaderboard username column should be wide enough to fit the longest usernames, and it should have text scaling to support display names using custom characters. It is also clear that the text label within the column does not properly fit the column and or truncates the text even when it would fit in the designated space.
I also expect the same to happen with stat names, especially as many experiences made before and after this update still have relatively appropriate stat name lengths that get truncated by this. I understand that the leaderboard could become extremely wide for certain experiences with many stats and or long stat names, however there should be an option to toggle how many stats appear directly within the leaderboard UI itself (for example, arrows surrounding a number on the same y level as the “x” close button above the first team / username). This number would represent how many stats are visible, and the default number for this (I should also add that this setting should SAVE for each user when changed) should be voted on by developers to make an appropriate decision as to how many stats a typical experience will need to show by default (the setting existing both for the user to have control over how much screen-space is taken up by the leaderboard as well as to support experiences with abnormal amounts of leaderboard stats).
