The power behind using textures on building and modelling and how to get started!

So when it comes down to building on Roblox. The power behind textures are really worth it and they’re useful to the fact this can change a lot of features on your build.

In my past projects, I didn’t use textures, it didn’t look as good as my expectations. I always thought something in my build was missing. This is a version of an experience that I built and modelled. The group name is called Tropical Express which is a group I own. I made this build back in 2021.

For my last project, I was commissioned to make a event centre. I built and modelled this event centre and used some textures from DevForHire. These models have drastically improved my build and my models. Thanks to this person and it adds a bit more features in the build with these textures. This is a build from Essence Hotels, this is a group that I use to formerly develop at. This build was made in 2023.

If you’re wondering where the texture pack is so you can try this out yourself and enhance your game with these textures, here’s the link to the page on Roblox where I got my asset from:
Texture Pack V2 - Creator Store (roblox.com)

This is a short tutorial on how you can get set up with a texture pack and if you want more content on a tutorial on creating your own texture pack, like this post and comment what textures you want to make and inspire me with your ideas!

I notice that in your example image with the texturing, there’s still plenty of models and surfaces that have been deliberately untextured and simply have their base color instead. Are you doing this purely from artist’s feel or is there some kind of general rule you stick to when deciding what should receive texturing or not.

Original image but I scribbled over all untextured areas in red

I’d also ask same question as above for the reasoning for which texture you ended up settling on.

The patterns represent the mood of the entire model itself and doesn’t need to be used entirely all the time. For a way of making the game looking cartoony I also left the use of the plain colors, the stage itself was suppose to appear reflecting the other surfaces with other textures, it was meant for a glossy surface. Since on places like the roof I wanted to capture the viewers attention on the neon light and a texture could conceal that since the viewer would rather focus on the texture. The use of textures however when used correctly can add definition to the game I find and making textures in certain circumstances it would fully transform a game. Thank for asking and sorry for late response since I’ve been busy, it’s a pleasure answering this question.
