The Pseudo-Empyrean Solar Kerfuffle: LA VIE EN ORANGE

Hey, Hi, Hello, Yo, What’s up. I’d like to cordially invite all of you to my recent installation of my proudest showcase: The Pseudo-Empyrean Solar Kerfuffle.

The update is named: ‘La Vie En Orange,’ (literally meaning Life In Orange) which is a derivation of a song with a similar name by the late singer Édith Piaf. I chose this title as part of an abstraction of the colour orange, and the tantalizing idea of sentience in search of freedom and individuality.

It’s a collection of visceral reactions, in part of my need to understand why something makes me feel good or why I love something so much. It’s about loneliness and the complicated amount of ironic responsibilities it entails. It’s about the warm embrace of a significant other and its renowned ability to put one at ease. It’s about the disdain I have for my past, and the constant worry of my future.

From any unsuspecting passer-by’s View, it’s reminiscent of a large grotto with orange undertones and bright spots to highlight a visual pathway. My intentions for this extensive piece is to evoke the feeling of connection and connectivity, which is evident from the ‘core’ shaped from 8 curved beams central to the player as they descend.

This, in my own words, is a portrayal of a warm heart with an unfortunate amount of permanent fissures, unable to be corked from the ironic number of supports that hold it open. It can then be seen that several things are seemingly connected to the core, from adjacent openings, colour-blending, and any other physicalities - A sentiment that notes an etch into the core, a scar that can’t be erased, figuratively or physically; ones that if chosen to be removed, will cause discrepancies and tangents that falsifies whatever a scar can or may represent.

As a sentimental person myself - unknown if it was forced on to me or just by nature, I needed to be able to show my capabilities in building while simultaneously conveying an overall meaning to an area, a kind of which makes anyone enquire why such a technique or style was fixed onto a particular place.

I think that’s all from me. Visit it here: The Pseudo-Empyrean Solar Kerfuffle!!

Thank you all so much. Any and every feedback is appreciated, no matter what it is; so feel free to express as much as possible. Thank you again, and again. Thank you.

It took about 6 months! Took a lot of time to think about how things would line up and how I would be able to execute them, and if it would look nice or not.

Had to restart a bunch, take down a lot, and replan a bunch of things! Pretty excruciating when it comes to making something that leans more into abstract and doesn’t necessarily have a blueprint.
