Information
The “Try On” button on a catalog item’s page sometimes “illegally” renders the item on your avatar. Basically, Roblox has limits on how many items you can wear per avatar “category”, for example a maximum of 3 hats:
The Try On feature seems to ignore these limits, and renders the item with all the pre-existing items, which could be causing the potential buyer to be “tricked” into buying the item.
I’ve added images to better show the issue
Better explanation
Before wearing the item:
As you can see, I can only wear one item / accessory at once.
When using the “Try On” feature
As you can see, it renders both the “Beast Mode Bandana” in addition with the “Red Mirror Glasses”
After wearing the Red Mirror Glasses
As you can see, the Beast Mode Bandana is now gone and replaced by the Red Mirror Glasses
Expected results
I expected that Roblox would give a precise image of how my avatar would look when using the Try On feature, and that it should behave as if you were wearing the item after buying it, on the avatar page.
The details
- This bug occurs and was tested on page Red Mirror Glasses - Roblox but it also happens on other items as well.
- I cannot tell for sure when it started on Roblox’s side, but I’ve been experiencing it for a while (months), and decided to post about it now
Reproducing the issue
- Go to a catalog item of your liking
- Press the Try On button on that catalog item’s page
- See how it incorrectly adds the item on your avatar
- (If applicable) Buy the item and see how it removes another accessory / item to make space for the new one
