Therapy roleplay type game/group

Hi there,

I am thinking about making a therapy type game/group, and I was wondering is it allowed? If it is allowed, what precautions would I need to take to stop Roblox locking the game and group?

Thanks for reading

I think that is would be ok but just not extreme stuff. I don’t think it’s against the TOS.

I don’t think there’s any thing wrong with that but make sure to check out the Roblox Terms of service first just to make sure.
There have been games like the mirror which is a psychological test and that was allowed.

A therapy group type game would be helpful as people have some personal issues which they don’t want to share with their close ones and would rather talk to other people and just have a conversation about their problems and that makes them feel more homely and welcome.

Again, please don’t just take my word for it and make the game/group but read through the terms of service carefully.

Sidenote: This is something that I support and I hope it becomes reality. If it does, may you please send me a link when you’re done with the game/group? Thank you.

Please read @iGottic’s reply. He stated points that you should read.

Reading the other posts, I realise that I have mistakenly given you info, please don’t listen to me.

A therapy group is fine, where people can talk about their troubles with others and get support from peers.

As long as there’s no one breaking the rules, such as inappropriate behaviour. Also, if it ever comes to it, don’t diagnose people with illnesses as well.

Most likely not, actually. @Jagerzdxx was right about the TOS, but not the verdict.

Revealing personal information on Roblox isn’t allowed, no matter where it is.
Therapy, at some point, will require some degree of personal information to be revealed.

In addition, as awesome of an idea this is, there are a couple caveats:

  • You are relying on the player community, which is mostly super immature kids.
  • Your game wouldn’t be stable, because people on Roblox are looking for games, not therapy.

Free services like 7Cups already exist as free therapy, and therefore the surrounding audience fits the maturity level to actually do real-talk.

tl;dr No, it’s not allowed, and it wouldn’t work even if it was.

As long as there’s no in-depth reason revealed on why the person feels the way they feel, it’s fine to know there’s someone by them as people tend to make friends quickly on the platform.

also, if there are any young children under the ages of 18, there are multiple resources both national and international like 7Cups, Childline, National Suicide Prevention and etc.

I’ve always wanted to do this type of game but was worried that it would offend players in a way. But in the instance of your game actually helping, I don’t see why it would be a problem!

I don’t know if this would break any rules, but this could be potentially dangerous.
This could give young children that are struggling a sense of security with internet strangers, which could lead to them sharing personal information.
There are a lot of messed up people on the internet, and I think it’d be much better to steer clear of a therapy-type “community”, and rather encourage children to talk to their friends, siblings, or parents. This could also expose a much younger audience (like 8 or 9 years old) to many harsher topics that they honestly might not be prepared for, like depression, suicidal thoughts, the like. I don’t think this site, in the way that it is marketed as a platform for little children- young teens/ even adults, is a good place to host some sort of therapy-type game.

I’m thinking if I just have very strict it would be allowed?

Sounds good on paper, but in reality it may not work.

Let’s assume you do get an audience on Roblox therapy in this scenario.

People in therapy often want to express their feelings with minimal regulations. Let’s assume a case I would often see on 7cups, like somebody who doesn’t click with their parents. Often, a sentence like “my parents won’t let me such and such” or “my parent’s dont such and such.” When a conflict like that is introduced, you require a moderation (in your case) that can’t reveal crucial information to that conflict, such as the parent’s personalities, “venter’s” personality (or something similar), and the contributing enviroment.

But that’s also assuming you would get an audience on this. Like I said before: Nobody comes to Roblox for therapy, but to play games. Keeping up with this would require a minimal playercount so people feel like they are being heard rather than ignored, and as a result your idea may just end up with people feeling worse (worst case scenario, but no unlikely).

Roblox is also full of younger children, who either don’t have anything reasonable to vent about, or the maturity to help others.

Your game also has the chance of attracting unwanted attention from malicious people trying to gain personal information from kids, which would end up in an even messier situation.

Before I said it’s not allowed, but I guess you could solve that with constant moderation and security measures.

However, I add on to what I said before: Not only is this a bad idea, but this can harm many people in many different ways and will end up spawning a path of malicious intent and immature conversation.

Doing this idea on a gaming platform won’t succeed, so I recommend maybe making one on your own platform, like a website? No matter what though, Roblox is not the place for this.

Hi! I just read this and wanted to know your thoughts on SSC? It’s basically this idea you had and they have a game!
