There's a new Robux icon!

Tbh the old robux icon was icon, It’s easier cause it had a R$ and people knew that’s the currency name for short and I since that’s no longer a thing do I call it bolt or what?

So I assume that you just ignored the fact that 3 out of the top 5 most common languages in the world don’t even use the Latin writing system. Roblox isn’t dropping influences, it’s just making it less confusing the people in the other countries that wouldn’t understand the “$” sign.

Not relevant to what I said.

So lets just put another symbol that’ll be confusing too until they learn what it means. I guess if you want equality in confusion this does the job.
And yes you just explained the very definition of dropping influences.

They may be making it easier for people in other countries to understand, but most people who play Roblox would understand it. The majority of Roblox players would have no idea that that new logo is a currency.

Personally, I think the new robux icon is not that good. Most people say the old icon is better, and I agree. Like many people say, it looks like a lug nut. I understand that roblox made this change to make roblox more globalized. But, because the icon looks So much like an ancient chinese coin, I feel that it is more Chinese-ized rather than Americanised… :v

I’m very saddened with the recent changes the developers of the site have done with all of the icon changes and such, with the logo change and the more recent currency change. Although it makes it more modern it’s just not something that appeals a lot of the older robloxian’s.

This a far superior design to the current one imo. But who’s to say what ROBLOX is doing? For all we know they could be changing how ROBUX works all together!

Unpopular opinion, but I kind of hate replacing the old icon that we are used to, not because this design sucks or anything, because we are used to it, and it’s uniquness is no longer present.

Here is a discussion about it if you wanna read

you missed one in the Android app

Same for the iOS app, I noticed the icon reverted back to the original around last Friday. Must be an oversight.

I really do like this design myself, that’s just my opinion.

/* time to Dev Ex my 100,000 lug nuts */

Even though it has actual value, it doesn’t feel like currency.

In Fortnite, they use an original symbol, but they have the letter “V” in the center (so it feels like currency to some extent). Most currency symbols around the world use a letter within their symbol.

Let’s pretend that Roblox used a triangle instead of a hexagon icon… No matter what, it’s hard to associate a geometric shape with currency (without a letter).

Seems like Roblox has lost a small memorable part of its identity with this change.
I don’t mind too much, but I do wish this new design wasn’t so generic - and that it stood apart from the settings and notification icons a little better. Changing the color to green would probably help in that regard.

I never replied to this post because I didn’t want to get ahead of myself with throwing shade on the icon, when often new features just take time to get used to. But honestly, I still feel pretty close to how I did before about this icon; it doesn’t scream ‘Currency’ or ‘Robux’ to me any more than it did when this was first released, and looks more like some kind of premium currency as an addition to Robux.

The only, possible pro to this, is that I do find myself slightly more detached from the dollar value of the currency. It’s less like real money I need to be careful with and more like a virtual ‘point’ that doesn’t have a monetary value. This could improve spending in games, and I might look into some stats as I likely have data on the daily site revenue before and after this change (in gamepass revenue only).

Sorry for the bump, also, if Roblox was trying to meet the logo and the currency or something, it should be like this. Not the best mockup I’ve ever seen, since it looks kinda similar to Bitcoin or some gaming currency symbols or so. I wish Roblox will put 2 lines in between the logo as a currency.

I don’t really see the problem with changing “R$” to something as simple as “Rs” or “R’s”. Would this be a good alternative?

I find the simple design very appealing, but I can see new users not knowing what it means sense it doesn’t really seem like a currency. I’m interested to see what other changes come a long with this!

Hey, so i saw this image posted elsewhere

Under Do’s, it says to place the robux icon to the left of the number.
do you think roblox could convert an unused unicode symbol to appear as the robux icon for in game? so i can very easily have the whole thing be in a textbutton or textlabel, without having to juggle imagelabel positions?

if you’re looking for options, i’d suggest U+232C, Benzene ring
looks kinda close by default ⌬

It looks like a token, but it doesn’t look like a Roblox token.
Lets make a hypothetical scenario where I know nothing about Roblox except the logo and name.

Then lets say you put the old Robux logo and the new one in front of me and asked me which I think is the logo for Roblox’s currency.

I would definitely say the old one is, and that’s because the new one doesn’t really look like something that would be recognizable to specifically Roblox. It’s not unique at all, and could fit with any game.

Edit: I also forgot the mention that it doesn’t look associated to any sort of currency. Yes I said it looks like a token but that’s because I have context to what it is supposed to be. A new player might be confused to what this logo next to a 0 means.
