Hello, I made a little game where you collect marbles and try to get as many points as you can. Once the timer is at 100 seconds, something called a sparkle marble spawns in which is worth 10 points. Anything I could improve or add in it? I’m starting to run out of ideas for it and I’d like to keep working on it.
Overall, Marble Madness is a fairly well made for a first game, having a fun concept, a good loading screen, and decent maps; however, there is still a handful of things you could add or improve.
First off, each round is a bit too long, making people lose interest after constantly doing the same thing on the same map for nearly five minutes. Try limiting each round to 2-3 minutes, at most, in order to keep players’ attention. Second, the tutorial and map descriptions were a bit wordy. Make sure to take out any unnecessary words to keep everything short and concise, leaving more time for people to play. Furthermore, instead of having each round back to back, consider adding a lobby of sorts for players to pass time during an intermission. The lobby could have a station for people to vote for the next map, a shop to purchase power ups, an obby(s), or anything else to keep your audience entertained. Finally, make the marbles easier to control, wether that’s through resizing them or some other method.
The game is pretty cool for a first game project! Well done! Here are some suggestions I have for this game:
The game is not completely finished, so I recommend you finish it before releasing it. Unless this was for a test, keep in mind that you need to finish the project before having us test it.
The rounds are too long, which can get some people to leave as they don’t seek anything fun. Make each round about 1-2 minutes.
This game needs a lobby. Give people a break before having them play the game again. Maybe make the lobby intermission 30 seconds - 1 minute.
The marbles stack on each other. Try having fewer marbles stack on each other or make a ramp to force the marble to travel down.
The marbles are a bit too big. You should resize them to a much smaller size, but not too small.
Overall, the game is pretty good! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I just wanted to have some ideas from some people which is why I released it temporarily. I was gonna take it down tonight, and once again, thanks for the suggestions!
