Thoughs on my RP/RPG/Exploration game

I’ve been getting into game development properly recently, and have been thinking on what kind of game to invest alot of time and effort into, after making my first “I want to make literally anything” game and finishing it a while back. So, I’ve decided to create a game which would include all the things I remember loving in games when I was younger, and still enjoy today.

This includes mainly:
. A massive world to explore, with various points of interest, towns and areas with NPCs, where you can buy/sell items and stay safe from mobs
. A variety of creatures who can attack you when you’re not in a safe zone
. PVP combat (through both duels and world PVP),
. A bunch of skills to level up, such as Mining, Forging, Woodcutting, Trading, Melee combat, ranged combat, and more. These skills level naturally as you use them, allowing you to use better items in those skill categories
. Item creation, modification, and trading
. Roleplaying, meaning you can create your own character, find a job for them, and stay in character with other players

I was also considering adding survival elements, such as having to manage hunger and thirst.

As well as a variety of other features.

My question is, would you play this kind of open world/sandbox RPG with regular RP elements, and if so, what features would you like to see expanded on with this type of game?

Thanks for any help!

In my opinion, I think there’s way too many RPGs on the platform at this point in time. However, it’s only a matter of time before another genre strikes every game developer’s fancy and they move on to it (hence the Simulation wave and we still haven’t recovered). So if you come out with something at that very moment then you may be in clear, but as of right now you have a lot of competition with game developers who’ve been in the game for a long time.

Regardless, I think that your RPG concepts are excellent. Most of the RPGs are pretty bland and repeat the same grindy mechanics on a level-based system. The only people who play them are people with a lot of time on their hands and children.

This type of game is bound to bring in young adults and hardcore RPG players. I would definitely give it a go, and if it’s enjoyable, send it to my colleagues.

Where are these RPGs? I’ve been dying for some new games to play ._.

Dope, thanks for the feedback! By the time I’ve made the first public version of the game, I feel like the current wave of games which everyone does will probably have shifted onto something new, so there likely won’t be as much competition once it’s released.
Good to hear you like my concepts, I’m getting to work on the game now!
