if it isnt supposed to be a horror game then yea you have some stuff to work on
specialy in 1, it sounds like several instruments are playing in different keys at the same time
and at 0:23 is such huge “musical jumpscare” where the synth just plays dissonant sounds
ofc it depends on the mood you are going for but it could be alot less agressive
this is a track i like from an rpg, you are going to hell here
fighting a boss in hell
just some examples
it would be also cool to see visualy the game you are working on, can also help on setting a tone with the music
All I can really do at the moment is spit out a google doc on what I want to game to feel and look like, because the game isn’t even near finished. I want to personally base my compositions off of the feel of an area or event currently going on, although, this of course wouldn’t apply to just random compositions I make.
Is their any good basis for reverb in any composition?
Could you provide me with any tips on how to make the song less overwhelming? And also, is there any guides/tutorials that you would recommend to me that teaches me about the different branches of music and how you can make a good theme with them?
Honestly, just listen to similar music and analyze it. You can find hidden little sounds in there that you didn’t realize. Notice how they flow well with the song and they don’t just add a chorus on top of another one.
I just wanted to add you said you’re working FLS (love that thing) there are many Creating Video Game Music - A Beginners Guide … on youtube that use FLS showing you this stuff from a beginner to professional level. They are doing it for video games, and it really sounds good.
