Hello all! For the past few years, I have been making browser and downloadable games. I have recently got this itch (hehe get it?) to come back to my roots and make a Roblox game!
That itch led me to make my newest game: Don’t Be Crushed By Jimmy The Wall 2! Through my experience with game dev outside of Roblox, I have learned how crucial feedback early on into a game’s development can be. That is why I have come here to ask you all for some thoughts and feedback on my new game! I’d love to hear any feedback, suggestions, or bugs you encounter while playing the game!
Anyway, I like this a lot, but I can definitely see people sitting on top of the big button that makes the walls crush. A cooldown would be an easy fix, but perhaps there’s a more fun way of going about that.
I like the nostalgic feeling I get from this. There’s no rainbow kill buttons all over my screen, no random prompts to buy stuff, and the best one is the old-style buttons & text for shop items.
Good game, albeit nothing too special. It would help to make progression more intuitive with a simple tutorial quest or an objective/quest to unlock the next level.
The obby is randomly generated from set premade chunks. When the level is generated, it takes a random chunk and places it in front of the previous randomly selected chunk.
As for the big button, I do see someone just camping on top of it. I figured the cooldown of it being pressed down would be enough but I may end up changing that around. I’ll have to play with some ideas.
I’m very glad you liked the theming I went for with the shop! I loved games that had shops like that when I was younger.
For your last statement, are you saying it wasn’t totally clear on how to progress to the next level with a ticket purchased from the shop? Or are you saying you wish there was an objective other than moving to the next level?
Thanks a bunch for playing the game and giving feedback!
I say it wasn’t totally clear on how to progress to the next level with a ticket purchased from the shop.
With tickets being grouped with other “fun” items at a place generally named “Shop”, it is not clear to me that you unlock new levels by buying their ticket. My gut, my intuition, would tell me that you unlock the ticket by winning the first level, like it’s waiting at the end. Not often do you buy tickets for unlocking levels in Roblox games.
This warrants better signage for tickets (either their own section or a completely different “ticket booth” shop) or a feature (ex: arrows, quest, tutorial) to guide users within the existing Shop system.
