Thoughts on a new game?

Hello everyone,

Recently: I have started solo development on a game concept I had a while back in May. I just wanted to know if it’s looking alright or if I need to change some things. Some constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!

Features currently made:

  • Weather system with clouds, thunder, and camera effects.
  • Menu screen using TweenService for UI rotation & camera panning.
  • Dialogue system.
  • Location saving system for when players leave the game. (Players can reset and keep their inventory items if they get softlocked).
  • Regional soundtrack.
  • Time system.

FA Demo #1 - Menu & Location Saving Systems

FA Demo #2 - Dialogue System

FA Demo #3 - Weather System

The general premise of the game is to fight monsters to receive rewards. Rewards can span from coins to full-fledged equipment. I haven’t yet developed the combat system, but that is going to be next on the agenda. There will be several bosses to defeat in conjunction with quest completion. The story is in the works.

I like the atmosphere of it a lot, just because of the cozy village feeling it has. I don’t really have any other feedback aside from saying it all looks nice, and I think you should work on it. I do think the dialogue system’s talking noise could get a bit annoying, though! I think halving how much it plays the audio would be an improvement. And, I know you haven’t made the combat system yet, but please don’t make the game into a grindfest! It feels like every game puts fun on the backburner in order to make it so you keep playing.
