Thoughts on a stock market simulator game

Real stocks, live data, Buy / Sell

no advantages / in game currency can be bought by robux

I have a similar question. Whereas @n_cy proposal is not even allowed under roblox’s now depreciated gambling rules because it would allow players to gamble with robux purchases, the new rules do not even permit simulated gambling.

In other words, your game can have a casino, but from my understanding, you are not allowed to have that casino be functional because that would allow players to engage in simulated gambling.

That brings me to my question, would a simulated stock market where players can gain or lose in-game money that is in no way attainable directly through robux be in compliance with the recently updated current rules. I ask this because the Community Guidelines are seem to clearly disallow simulated gambling but not simulated risk taking. Many games can have a risk/reward mechanic, at what point does that constitute ‘gambling’ under the community guidelines. I would say that a simulated stock market is an investment simulator and not the same as gambling, however many people see the stock markets as casinos because of the risk/reward mechanic.

Assuming you buy stocks with VIRTUAL IN-GAME currency (Not robux!) Then yes, as well as buying with currency, That’s fine as long as no robux is given to the player.
So yes, as long as no player gets any form of currency: (USD, Robux, etc) out of that experience, that’s fine.

That would mean that simulated gambling is allowed as long as its not with real money or robux. Are you sure its allowed when they seem to say it’s not.

TLDR/SIMPLIFICATION:
By no means can you get the currency by robux directly.
You must display all odds of earning (item)
(That’s more to crates in games, but still, just make sure that’s followed.)

After a bit of research, I was wrong. I should of done research beforehand. Here’s the rules. on the stuff.

Randomized Virtual Items Policy Under Roblox’s Terms of Use, if you offer randomized virtual items that users can purchase with Robux or other in-experience currency, you must indicate all the actual numerical odds of what they may receive. For example, if a user has the opportunity to purchase a magic charm that has the random chance to either have a rare, epic, or legendary status, you must disclose the odds of their potential award before they spend Robux: This policy also applies to indirect purchases. For example, if a user uses their Robux to purchase a seed, then later plants the seed in exchange for a randomized virtual item, you must disclose the odds of their potential award before they plant the seed. If your experience offers randomized virtual rewards in exchange for completing an action that does not involve the payment of Robux or other in-experience currency, you aren’t required to disclose the odds. For example, if a user locates a key that opens a treasure chest, you don’t need to state the odds of what items they might receive from the treasure chest.

This was from the AI assistant (gross, i know.) But deserves a fair mention to strengthen the rule definition as its quite vague feeling.

  • I’m not too sure on this rule but, maybe a 2x currency gamepass IS allowed when you earn currency as long as its not DURING selling stocks, who knows though.

Real stocks, live data, Buy / Sell

^ Real stocks and live data is a EXTREMELY grey area. Showing live stock data on experiences IS allowed, Just not too sure on buying/selling on that stuff, since you CAN’T show chances on earnings as required. Try and contact support to get that checked out.

no advantages / in game currency can be bought by robux

^ As known earlier, You CAN NOT buy currency to gamble with, using robux.
