Hi! I’ve been working on a purchase center for vehicles made by my buddy. I want some thoughts on the design. It is all UI based, and scales to window resolution. Thoughts?
Very nice, very stylish!
I just want to show you that the cars in the menu on the left look very stretched. To keep them as squares and preserve their aspect ratio, use UIAspectRatioConstraints. This can solve the stretched car issue.
Other than that, the overall UI looks very well made!
Thank you for your quick response! I have put in AspectRatioConstraints. I’ve always wondered what those were for! Thank you for the feedback!
I like the style of the triangles in the background you have going, it’s a nice addition. As for the UI where you select the vehicle I think It’s the width should be slightly bigger since the vehicles looked a little pushed together. The UI on the right displaying the stats should have more visual aspects to it instead of just text. Overall I like it but there is always room for improvement.
Nice UI! Some things I would change to improve it:
- Make the UI toggle button (the car) white so it looks sharper. Usually black on dark backgrounds seems to not fit.
- The font in the middle when it’s on the screen “please choose a car” seems out of place, that could do with changing.
- The car properties on the right seems too bland, with very little colour. Also, the car name on the right looks like it’s put into one word (e.g. 2016PoliceExplorer instead of 2016 Police Explorer)
- You could add a dollar sign to the price: PRICE: $150
- If you feel comfortable doing so, you could make the cars rotate (using viewportframes) to give the player a better look of the vehicle from all angles.
Anyways, very nice UI!
That’s a really good UI and I congratulate you on your input. You’ve obviously put a lot of work into this and it looks very professional. The vehicles look excellent too. Well done indeed.
You asked for thoughts and so I would say that I would agree with Ployheximal with his comments regarding the font for ‘Please choose a car’ but that is just a minor criticism of, what is, a great piece of work.
So, I would say, well done on your UI - it looks like it is going to be a great asset for your game.
I changed that when I was inputting AspectRatioConstraints, surprised I noticed it, tbh.
I’ve got a few replies about that, as you probably notice, but I can’t think of much visual aspects. Any ideas?
- I got the car img from google, and obviously, google doesn’t like me so it gave me all black cars. I will change that in photoshop soon though!
- I’m glad that’s not just me! I’ve been thinking of ways to make it fit more, but i’m not very creative you see.
- I can’t think of much visual changes. Any ideas? – I was just about to change the names, good reminder!
- I was going to add a sign, but forgot. Thanks for the reminder, again!
- I’ve never done a rotating image UI…? Didn’t know that was possible. Thanks for the idea, and feedback!
Thank you for the feedback! I’m glad you like the design.
Pretty sure ImageColor allows you to change the image’s colour. The quality might not be as good as changing it in PS though.
The images are nice, and so is the background, but it’s all really big. Does it need to take up that much space?
For example, the whole section on the right where the stats of the car are listed - they are very spread apart and the size of the text changes and looks a bit weird.
Also, there’s no feedback when you click on the car button in the corner. Maybe make it have a dropshadow or highlight when you have the tab open.
There are 3 fonts on the screen and it doesn’t seem very consistent. Maybe the background text and the text on the cars should be the same font as the right side stats?
I like it, but the cars on the left panel are too stretched, also change the colors and use a different font. Other than that great job!
Yikes. Do you know what is contrast?
I feel so bad for them, being stretched.
Good luck.
I like it, but the font of the text where it says “Please Choose a Vehicle” is not a good font. I would change that.
