Thoughts On Gas Station

Hello I made a Gas Station recently i went for a more simplistic design then a very complex one, yes it could be touched up with a little bit of polishing and tweaks and i think it looks good for what it is right now, but i would like to see what you guys think i could improve on and constructive criticism is what i am looking for here.

Here are the pictures:

Looks really good man, my suggestions to give you!

  1. Add a little trash can by the gas station tanks. I would also add those poles that be next to the gas station.
Example

  1. I would add a credit card button to the gas. Station tank and i would remove the green on the machines to a original color!!

  2. Try adding a roof to the gas station tank! and add some buttons to it like how you see in the real gas station and. I would scale the gas station a bit small and not make it so big…!

But for know keep it up, man looks really good!!

  1. There is way too many gas pumps, which means there would always be lines of cars trying to get to the next gas pump. That or they would be pulled in the gas station all weird and crooked trying to get gas. I would probably removed a few of the gas pumps.

  2. When companies do make gas stations they don’t put 4 pipes around the overhead that covers the gas pumps. They connect them to the gas pumps in pairs of two. So you have 6 gas pumps on one side and 6 one the other that would be three pairs on each side and 6 in total. So you may not want to build 6 pipes but rather 4 to make it a bit more less complex. (For an example of this I would just search up “Conoco Gas Stations” and just see what I’m talking about.)

  3. I would also add trashcans around the gas pumps for people to throw stuff away. Especially needed if some folks went on long trips and have trash built up in their car.

That’s my only complaint besides maybe signs that say “Exit” and “Enter”. Other than that I loved the build you made for your city, it looks modern and very simplistic which I like.

I believe this may help you but this will require you to completely remake the layout. However, the colour scheme is the least of my concerns but it’s the accessibility which we’ll need to prioritise as gas stations typically will have 2-4 gas/Petrol pumps each row as a fellow developer said that they’ll be long queues to fuel your vehicle. To add on if you would like to add more than 4 gas pumps you will need to either have your width longer or the length while the other will need to be kept relatively short. Also gas stations will have a support structure between each Petrol pump while the roof of your petrol station is too large. I’ve included an image of what a typical Petrol station should look like image

Last but not least a Petrol station usually has a small building by it for convent shopping/and to pay for fuel by cash. In some modern gas station they’ll have a cafe/restaurant installed. Although I’m unsure what restaurants have done it, I can say Subway has been doing this for a while a now

I like it but I think you should add more stuff to it, try decorating it a bit by adding a vending machine , bathrooms or pipes and stuff

Not bad at all!

However as previously stated, way too many pumps. I suggest adding 3 - 4 pumps maximum in one row. Also, perhaps consider making them taller? They seem a bit short.

I also recommend adding a building next to the pumps to serve as a sort of “customer service” area for the gas station, as well as a small convenience store and maybe bathrooms, all in one as commonly seen at most gas stations. (at least here in the US)

Otherwise, very nice!

I like the lighting! But I agree with everyone’s critiques on the layout. There needs to be less pumps in order to actually accommodate any vehicles. If you’ve got time: model a car that you can place into the scene to help with the scale & aesthetic

Tone down on the neon by a lot, it looks a little more like a nightclub than a gas station (of course, excluding the make of the structure, which obviously screams gas station). I’d try adding a layer around the neon lights that you currently have, while only exposing just a small increment of it on the top and bottom of the cover.

I also don't think that gas station pumps glow. At all.

So on. You get it.

That’s as much as I can say without parroting what’s already been said. Looking good.

I would recommend adding more supports. To me this roof looks like it is not even near being able to hold itself up. I would integrate the supports with the gas pumps itself, like here:image

yes they do glow, where i live at least, at nighttime where i live, usually the top parts glow.

I know you are going for a simplistic design, but it does not have enough detail.
Here are some things you should add/fix;

  • Most gas stations in my area have 2 colors at the top, so like green and white.

  • Move the poles holding the structure inward.

  • Switch the rotation of the gas pumps.

  • Don’t connect the gas pumps in a straight line.

  • Raise the roof a little bit more.

Make the gas station look more like that. Hopefully, that helped good luck!

Build looks great! Definitely could use a bit of sprucing up though,

If you look at real Gas Stations, especially ones without a Mini-Mart, they’re rather small.
They have around 4 - 5 Pumps [one big pump but one on each side of it, for a total of 8 - 10 actual pump ]
And the Roof covers just the Pumps.

My Advice:

  • Remove some Pumps
  • Make the space MUCH smaller
  • Add a Mini-Mart [not really necessary]
  • Add Poles Between the Gas Pumps extending to the roof
  • Add a little “curb” under the pumps, with those little concrete poles to prevent cars from crashing into
    the pumps
  • Lastly, add a another color to the scheme, looks a bit bland as just Green / White [maybe add yellow?]

Well those are all my tips for ya, I hope things go well for your build. Have a good Fourth of July!

Oh have a good fourth of July too
And I have already added most of what you said except the curbs I will see how it looks.

Very good build you have here but some suggestions that I would have is to add a little more detail to it like adding lights to the roof of the station.

Also I would recommend that you do 3 gas pumps per lane (so its not too saturated with all the pumps)

Other than that you did a spectacular job on the gas station

Your Gas Station looks really nice but to improve in the future I suggest using google images to help, for an example if your looking to build a modern kitchen just search up images for a modern kitchen. Try to replicate it while also adding some of your own style to it. As you improve you won’t need images and could just build based off experience. This really helped me when I started my building career.

Hello there!
Your gas station looks really nice, however I wish that you added some details.

-1 First of all there are too many gas pumps. If you want to make your game realistic, it wouldn’t be possible to pay for these pumps for a company. 3 pumps in each line would look better.

-2 Cars would make it look better. Because a gas station is useless without cars.

-3 In every gas station there is a shop at the back It’d look better if you added it.

-4 You can add a 3D text logo at the top of the roof. It’d look nice.

-5 I think the pumps shouldn’t glow.

This is all I can say, now I will give you reference pictures for each of my suggestions.

Reference Pictures

1 and 2 and 3 As you see in this image there are 3 gas pumps in each line, there is a car, there is a shop at the back.

4 and 5 There is a text logo at the roof and the pumps are not glowing in all of the pictures.
