Thoughts on GFX

Just finished making this a couple hours ago, I wanted to post it here to see what kind of feedback I can recieve. All opinions are open

Wonderful though there is the issue with the light coming from the back of the guy with the builders club hat.

The same thing is happening with the holding the gun.

Looks very good! I think adding a little depth and fixing the lighting a little (as said in the previous replies) would make it better!

The lighting on the brick is a bit odd, the brick looks like it is made of plastic. Try utilizing normalmaps in order to fix this.

Other than that, the render looks really good. I like the use of a glow effect on the laser gun bullets and the monster on the right.

That’s a really good point, I didn’t even notice it honestly haha. Next time I’ll turn the texture into a normal map. Thanks.

The artwork as a whole is way too saturated and the ground looks a little odd.

Howdy, your GFX looks really visually appealing and the way you composed it draws the eye perfectly to the character in blue!

However, I do have a few things I’d like to point out. Firstly, the grass could use a little color variation.

See in the image of real grass how it isn’t all one color of green? I’d suggest incorporating different shades of green, yellow, and brown which creates a more dynamic and realistic feeling. I can’t tell what software you’re using but if it’s blender I believe using a color ramp node with whatever set up you have would be sufficient.

Secondly, the texture for the ground you used is a bit confusing as it appears to be a cobbled road yet it’s extremely reflective in the light and it’s pretty clear it’s just an image texture slapped onto a plane. With bits of grass in it?

I’d suggest using a normal/bump map to make that texture appear far more realistic and using a roughness map to fix those odd bits of reflections on what should be a matt surface. Alternatively I’d suggest either a high quality version of that texture or an entirely different one.

Finally, something more of an inconsistency than a major issue:

This character appears to be back lit even though the only source of light in the scene is the lantern all the way to the right and the blaster beam that realistically should illuminate the characters side. Whatever source of light that is hitting the character doesn’t seem to extend much further which is just a little strange.

Otherwise, this is a really great GFX and I love how clean all the characters turned out!
