I am currently working on my own roleplay police group based within the UK, it needs small urban areas so now I’ve finished the majority of scripting I need to work on building. I’ve mocked up a rough layout of buildings and rounds. Please leave constructive feedback. (Leaving game and group link for those interested).
It looks great and I like your focus on the detail (detail on roads ect.) Here are some Ideas

Add buildings with different brick colours. Or buildings with more detail eg. different signs in front with differently themed stores.

Maybe a park area.

Some back streets that are smaller(2 lanes instead of 4) that lead to some residential areas

Some details to the paths like bins or light poles. Or maybe even bus stops.
You did a great job on creating this theme of a high detail and it looks great.
I only have two issues with these streets.
1.) It’s completely straight, try adding some curves, also some lines in the sidewalk would be nice.
2.) This section (screenshot below) doesn’t fit the road at all, I recommend using the same color (light gray) lines you were using before, as well as a different design.
I may replace a few of the empty buildings and create small allys, a park is definite but I just don’t want it too look out of place.
Are you talking about the yellow box?
Yes it’s the yellow box.
Specifically, the entire criss-cross design is bothering me. It doesn’t look very good, and I think it would look better if you used a simpler design that is the same color as the rest of the road markers.
From your profile I understand you’re from the U.S. in the UK these are called Yellow Box Junctions, they are like crossroads but in my view are safer, they allow for a free flow of traffic.
Yeah, maybe to help stop the park from looking out place you could have a brick wall around it, one that fits the theme of the rest of the build. Also small alley between buildings would be pretty cool. Especially if some of them lead to secluded areas that can’t be accessed any other way(just another idea)

For realisms sake, I think it would be better if you kept that then. But you should definitely make major edits. Start with these:
- Bring the junction box thing further away from the edges of the road
- Make the diamonds bigger (like in the reference image you sent)
- Make it a slightly bolder yellow

Reduced the edge by 5 on each side and doubled the inside square size.
Normally the yellow box have to stick to the boarder of the road with a really small gap between the yellow box and the road.

Some extra Ideas(sorry if I repeat a few):
PARK

Benches, lamposts , bins, places to lock your bike. ect.

maybe a little pond.

Multiple paths.

Maybe a playground.

Make sure the trees fit the style of the game (blocky).
OTHER THINGS

You could add some different styled buildings like: offices, fire station/hospital, residential, Mall / shopping centre, fast food, petrol station, large parking areas. Just some ideas.

Little things you could add like: light poles, fences , bike paths,places to lock your bike up , speed bumps, brick walls and fences , signs( speed signs, road names, ect.)

Maybe change up the material for the roofs although it looks good but I don’t think roofs look like that so if your going for realism might want to fix that.

Later on when your done building to give more life to it you could add NPC’s to talk to. I think this will liven it up.

You might want to change up the skybox and lighting to fit the build more.

Unrelated to visuals but there’s an issue when riding the motorbike and driving over this sometimes the motorbike jumps really high.This also happens when riding over the white lines.

Due to it being a yellow box lane indications are optional but understood!

You could possibly just disable CanCollide on the markings…
If you are looking for some designs for future areas check out CGTrader or turbosquid and you can find some really good real-world models of cities and towns (with and without textures). Many have numerous pictures that could be helpful when planning new map areas.
