Hello everyone, ok so I’m working on my rendering skills. I’m going to add a bump map later but here is what I have so far. Please give me your thoughts and feed back.
Thank you so much from John!
PS: I really think I’ve improved within the last few days.
So right now he is really yellow, which isn’t good assuming all the light is suppose to be sunlight. So less yellow, more white, and less intense, so it doesn’t change the whole color of the material.
I agree with @C0_le. The character looks great, but the way he’s holding the gun looks a bit floaty and unnatural. It’s always tricky to get R15s to hold guns though, I struggle to get halfway decent gun animations whenever I need to do them.
Back to the lighting, I feel like the color is wrong, as was mentioned
but I would also work on brightness a bit. You can see the light is bright to the point where the clothing is becoming almost faded or washed out. Also, you can see that there’s a shiny reflection on his right pant leg. You might want to reduce reflectance or something because felt isn’t normally shiny.
That’s better, now for the material for the rifle barrel, make it more metallic by raising the reflection in cinema, or if you are in blender, raise the metallic setting. Keep the roughness lower, around .2 and also do that for any metal part on the gun in general. also add some specular/reflection to the beard, and raise the roughness to about .7
The lighting is making it look yellow, which isn’t exactly a good thing. Not quite sure how to fix that, as I’ve never had that issue. Another thing that I’ve noticed is that the gun seems to be floating, or almost as if he’s punching it away. I feel as if you should position it better, so that it looks like he’s actually holding it. But overall, I think the render looks great, and all you really need to change is the gun positioning and the lighting. Keep up the great work!
I think it looks a bit strange to have it like stuck half way in the hand. Also you might wanna do something to the legs a little bit because I do think it looks a bit unstable unless you match it with a good background to make it look like its climbing a hill or something.
I do agree with the others stating about lighting and the arms. However, I would like to add that the render looks clean and I don’t notice any pixels (which is great)! Good luck on your improvements and nice work!
You should definitely pose the arms more with the gun, it just seems like he’s carrying it in a way that… well normal gun wielding people should hold guns. Search up reference photos online to get a better idea!
