Thoughts on my upcoming horror game? | UPDATE 8/8/2022 - NEW LANTERN SYSTEM!

At the moment I am currently working on a horror game based on the Ancient Greek Mythology - The Minotaur.

This horror game will take action inside of a large multi-floor maze where players must work together to solve the puzzles in order to make their way out while avoiding the Minotaur.

At the moment the game is still in heavy development, but here’s what’s done so far:

8/3/2022 Update

8/4/2022 Update - Remastered Lighting & Props

As some of you have requested, I improved the lighting, added a custom texture to the corpse bags and also added some extra props into the game.

8/5/2022 Update - Base Map Complete

Finally, after 5 days of excruciatingly hard work, I managed to complete the base of the map! Now keep in mind, the map is not 100% complete yet, this is just the base. But hopefully this could give everyone an insight of just how remarkable the future gaming experience might be!
Also, you might notice that every hall on the 3rd floor looks the same. Don’t be fooled by that. The 3rd floor will contain trapdoors that will constantly open and close, altering the path after each period of time, making the 3rd floor the most difficult to navigate through as completely random paths will be generated by a script.

8/6/2022 Update - Test Link Available

Now before you test the game, please keep in mind that the warning screen is not meant to act as a method to bypass Roblox’s ToS. But rather, it is for another version of the game of which it’s release date will be reserved for the upcoming Roblox age group update.

There is currently no extreme violence, blood & gore or any jumpscares. The game is currently in one of it’s earliest stages of development and is not even meant to be taken as a game for now.

This is purely for testing and feedback purposes only.

Huge amount of credit goes to my buddy Traxex16 for collaborating with me on the project’s development.

(Test Link has been removed until the Game reaches it’s Prototype state.)

8/8/2022 Update (Latest) - New Lantern System

The new lantern system is still in it’s early state and has yet to be improved.
However, it will have it’s own unique mechanics. The lantern can be equipped by pressing Q. You might have also noticed the Oil bar at the bottom left corner. That is for the lantern.

Now throughout the game, players will come across bottles of Lantern Oil which will be used to refuel the Lantern. However, in order to ignite the oil, players must find a fire source like wall torches or fire pits, as an example.
Matches would not be an option as the game takes place in Ancient Greece, and matches were only introduced somewhere in the 19th century.

Anyways, here are a couple of images displaying the looks of the Lantern:

Future Plans: Looking forward to replacing the casual Textures with the new PBR Textures and hopefully I could add textures with Normal Maps to give the game a more realistic feel.

Now, it’s completely understandable that some people may find the game’s content disturbing, so there will be a warning on the main menu.

Anyways, let me know what you think.

Best regards,
Viodene

This looks awesome! I can’t wait to play. Small issue for me though, if you’re trying to make the game a bit realistic especially with the skull and stuff, try to tweak your light a bit. Whether that may be making it more dim or making the actual light coming out of it be a bit darker.

Looks great! Would play sometime in the future.
Question: are those bricks meshes or parts?

Great game! Remember though, more actions, mystery, less pure horror and traumatization.
Good luck

If the minotaur comes from behind with NO sound and it gives you a REALLY scary jumpscare, I will have a heart attack

The map looks really good though, I like it

Funny enough, mesh parts. But here’s the catch: they’re all optimized. So a single corridor is a single mesh, therefore, no lag.

I had one friend test this game on an old GPU.
The map is nearly finished and he says he’s getting a good 30-40 FPS. Pretty good for an old GPU.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the game does not have any optimization scripts yet, so you could only imagine how well the game would run with one of those.

You should do a first person head bobbing system. Just to give it more of a realistic feel.

A first person POV is coming up.

Good job! but I recommend adding more detail because it just looks like rooms with high quality textures put on them.

Most certainly. The goal of my upcoming horror game is to not only become a high quality product, but to take blood and gore to a whole new level while not breaking any of Roblox’s ToS, which is quite a challenge regarding how confusing and vaguely informed the ToS are.

It’s a risky project, but it’s a risk I’d rather take for the sake of game evolution. It’s about time Roblox welcomes the TRUE “Powering Imagination.”
