Hey, so I’m working on a sci-fci futuristic fps shooter, and I was modeling a railgun. I think I’m done with the model, but I think there’s room for a ton of improvement (especially those rings, as those are only there because I don’t know what to add in place of them)
After I upload the model, I plan on making the coils bobble up an down for an extra effect, and when the railgun is charging, the inside of the rings will slowly turn neon blue.
Theres a compartment for ammo in the bottom, they enter as cells ( essentially just shotgun shells but larger and with a different design ). I’ll make sure to work on the stock and grip, i agree they look really bland rn. How should I remove the blocky look in the middle of the weapon?
The problem I mainly have is the lack of a defined barrel, the lack of anything mechanical to give it the illusion of working and zero beveling, its just solid edges which doesn’t look that good.
I implemented your suggestion, but it pretty much blocks the coil, meaning you wont be able to see the coils bobbing up and down (they’re supposed to be hovering, hence the face that they arent connected to anything). This is how it looks though
I plan on making the coils brass, and then they kinda go neon while the railgun is charging. I’ll see if I can use 4, but if I can’t without being able to visibly see the coils I dont think I will
This railgun design looks good! Nice job on it! It looks kind of weird in the back though, add more detail to the back of the railgun. How long did this take to make?
Took like a couple of hours but I’m new to modeling, since I’m mainly a scripter. How should I improve the back? Right now the only change made to it is that the loading port is part of the back
