Thoughts on this typing speed test?

Hey, so I got inspired to create my own take on a typing speed test system, which I whipped up in a few days. Just wondered what you guys thought of this

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!

Oh yeah 40 WPM I am totally the best typist here. :sunglasses:

no

I like the game so far! I will list some things below that you could change

  • A little text that tells you to press space to the next word.

  • Maybe you can add different themes you can get for achieving a better WPM score.

You should make a system of replacing a players lowest score with their higher score.
as well as disabling player movement and make sure that players cant go into first person so they wont get their mouse stuck in the center of the screen

spot on and great and everything but if a player gets a higher record than they did before it should update that record and not duplicate it

I had the problem of hitting space then the game would freeze and wouldnt go to the next word. I think I might have broken it. Whoops.

Well that’s odd. Do you know if the timer was counting down or if it stopped at 0?

The timer was counting down…

That’s super weird, I’ve never experienced any issues with it freezing for me.

Well, that sucks for me I guess. Cool game though.

I do like it, it is mainly pretty accurate and I really enjoy the leaderboard. The only issue I see is that you can only see one word ahead of you. This messed me up a lot and it would be helpful if you just had to type a paragraph of words that you can see from the get-go.

That’s a good suggestion. This was more of a test than a full “all eggs in one basket” type of game, but if I get around to updating it (which is likely) I’ll definitely improve that aspect of it.

You could make a paragraph mode and a single word mode.

Possibly freeze the humanoid, so we don’t hear the jumping noise. Game is nice though.

I had a lot of fun playing this - even though my typing has slowed down considerably I’m glad somebody’s added one of these to Roblox.

As @coreful rightly suggested, I would recommend preventing players from jumping since the noise can be distracting. I’d also stop players from zooming into first person because my mouse became stuck when I opened the leaderboard.

Thank you for making this though. I think I’ll add it to my favourites.

That’s pretty :fire:

Thanks for the wonderful feedback! I think I’ll release a hotfix for the camera, and sound as well.

High score achieved.

Anyway, I like it, but it’s a little bit disorienting that the words just pop into place instead of sliding. I like to be able to know what I’m typing next, but it’s hard to focus on both at the same time. (I don’t know if this makes any sense)

Like others have suggested, I think a paragraph mode would be nice especially to get a real-world scenario estimate, and since this is a Roblox game, if you’re feeling adventurous maybe make a code typing speed test :open_mouth:

I just realised the leaderboard doesn’t display results in the correct order.

Just a heads up - wasn’t sure if you were aware of this or not.

Wow, that’s bizarre. Thanks for letting me know!

Pretty nice, though I don’t like it being spacebar, enter would be a lot better in my opinion.

The server high scores are incredibly buggy;

It shouldn’t count highscores by accuracy first, it should count by WPM.

It seems to have broke, with some people with 0 WPM still being higher than people with more than 0 WPM.

I’m assuming they’re in the middle of a testing session, but its a bit bad and unpractical.
