Tiny tank battle

Hello,
Remember this post of mine days ago LINK.
But this was going to be too hard to script so I maked them tinier.
So thanks Asleum for the scripts [still work in progress, like the models]

Instead of pics I’ll show you a video.

I hope you liked it, bye!

That is fantastic.

First Roblox game I’ve seen that doesn’t look like it was made using Roblox.

I was thinking of making a game something like this, my concept if you want some ideas:
[ul]
[li]- General idea: Fight in an arena for points, use the points to buy items for your vehicle.[/li]
[li]- It’s free-for-all continuous based. You just enter into the arena when ready and survive as possible.[/li]
[li]- Points are based on a fast turnaround time like DotA, not something that you keep long-term. You get them, spend them for one entrance into the arena, and they’re gone. You get some base amount of points to work with each [/li]
[li]- Game structure: Whenever you spawn, you spawn in some waiting area. In this area, you can click on various “hot” points on your, to start with blank, vehicle. Clicking those points lets you spend points to add some item / attachment there.[/li]
[li]- Your vehicle goes away after a round, so you’re not super trying to build it up. The progression in the game is trying to get sets of achievements for various tasks, like getting however-many kills with X weapon, or trying to get on the top leaderboards for a given day / week / stat.[/li]
[li]- Some users will end up with very powerful vehicles in some rounds. That’s okay, because users will naturally team up to try to take down these stronger ones, moderating power.[/li]
[li]- Have a sort of “ring” around the arena with a glass floor, where users will be when not spawned as a vehicle. This provides vital character-based socialization space that is necessary for a game to succeed.[/li]
[li]- Pros of structure: Fast turnaround time, plays to the quick in-and-out nature of most player’s play sessions (the most frequent play duration is centered around 14 minutes, around the time it would take to build a couple of vehicles and play them to death), has some progression, and a lot of replayability as you try out various vehicle attachments, but the progression is not necessary to have fun.[/li]
[li]- Cons of the structure: It’s not character based, so it will never be as popular as some other games that are. Players on machines with bad networking will have a bad experience, as a snappy network is required for this gameplay to feel nice.[/li]
[/ul]

Hey thanks for all those ideas!!

I already planed add a store and a customize GUI, so you can change hull, turret, weapon, and tracks.
And you create theking of tank you wish, light and powerful or heavy and slow…

Also planed to get upgrades from box, when you kill someone he drop a box, if you get it first that allow you to upgrade your tank on the spawn custom session (more bulets, more speed, turret turn faster, and more…)

I like your idea “Your vehicle goes away after a round” but why not after a death if your tank has more than 3 upgrade or more IDK

To finish I am working on a gamemode, “conquer” you have to capture control points to get points from them every seconds, and the first team to get X points win the game.
If the timer is down before the team that has the most points win.

Oh man, looks like tiny tanks is the new “murder mystery”.

On a more serious note, awesome work. Looks very fun.

No it seems FNaF content, despite being banned, is the new murder mystery (there are only 2 tiny tanks):

I reported two of those a couple days ago so I have no clue why they’re still up there.

Hey some news,
Asleum got the turret working and now theres a trail:
The tank engine is almost done, now it needs a cool camera.

Aslo if someone know how to create a 3rd camera in wich you you don’t have to press the right clic to move the camera, tell me !
Thx.

I really liked your FPS map, and I like this idea too. Is this map symmetric or asymmetric?

Everything was perfect until I saw the bullets. The bullets are really ugly. Sorry.

I think it looks really nice, and I love the camera view.

I have to disagree with Stravant, it still looks very much like ROBLOX.

That looks fun and destructive.

It seems somehow off to me that the camera isn’t locked into the position the turret is facing. I think that’s the way most tank games I’ve played have been - you can still control the tank, but you’re forced to look the direction of your gun.

But I absolutely adore this game. Tiny tanks (heck yes I want them on my desk) sounds great and the simple environment works extremely well. Great aesthetic.

…not to mention it looks like Besiege, which is super hot right now.

I think you should look into adding terrain variations somehow - how do your tanks work on 20-30 degree inclines? I think that’d be a neat element to add.

Also, I think the bullets (rounds?) may look better with tiny explosions on impact. If not for damage, at least for looks.

Kudos to you. Keep this up. Develop it. I want to spend many hours this summer at this game.

This looks great so far looking foward to it! Only thing I don’t like are the bullets

the bullets are not scripted yet.
those brick are just for fun right now

Those CSG bricks with the decals on them just look so fancy e.e, as if they have been modeled in a professional animation program.

Any update/progress on this?

No :x
My scripter is too busy right now.
Maybe later if we are still enjoying this project…

Oh hey. Vitamin String Quartet. I love them.
