Hey everyone!
Recently I decided I wanted to purchase Procreate - I haven’t done that yet. I want to get into 2D artwork and don’t know where to start. My inspiration for this came from @Fallen2D (he is practically famous at this point) and PUPPYROBLOXGAMES (doesn’t do Roblox art, she is my sister and she just likes art and is way better than me at it lol). I’d appreciate all the help I could get. Thanks!
Hiya!
ProCreate is a wonderful app, I use it a lot. If you want some inspiration then check out KxraDraws
and also you can see some of my past drawings below:
Yeah - FallenAngel was the one who introduced me to it! He makes some awesome stuff in it.
Made this for me and I will be taking inspiration from you, him and KxraDraws! Thanks for the advice!Awesome! I was just on his post recently and was talking to him, nice of him to draw for you. Unfortunately I don’t have enough to buy one for myself or I would.
Oh haha. I have 0 robux now. Most of my robux was spent on buying one of my dream avatars and the rest was spent on a pfp.
Honestly, just practice sketching. Considering it’s fairly difficult to draw for me, I would just practice for hours.
Hi, it’s great to see that you’re interested in art! When you first begin art, you’ll probably be learning the most in this stage
In terms of art software, you could always first try out some free ones and then migrate toward a paid software, there’s paint. net, medibang, or paint tool sai, (if you’re on PC). If you’re using a digital tablet like an ipad; medibang, ibis paint x, or autodesk sketchbook are the best free ones. In my opinion medibang is the best, because it’s cross-platform and has just about everything you need as an artist.
In terms of technical aspects or skills, there’s many things one could say that beginner artist should do. Some things I think would be learning to draw 3D shapes (especially in perspective), studying from both real life and photo reference (seriously, always use a reference!), and deciding what you can improve on from your previous piece. If cartoon art is your goal, learning realistic art first can really help you in the long run (it is possible to simply learn realistic as you draw cartoon stuff, but it makes it much easier when you learn realistic first!)
Some other tips I would say are:
- Don’t give up too easily. If you feel art is not your hobby, that’s okay. But drawing is a skill rather than a talent, and it may take years possibly for you to finally improve in some areas. Keep persevering, and you’ll improve.
- Draw simply for the sake of drawing or for your enjoyment, rather than trying to be the best or something, it’ll make you far less likely to give up easily
- Draw everyday even if it’s something small or simple. It’s much better to make incremental improvements everyday rather than to do one study, and then not draw for 2 weeks.
There’s many other things I can say, but I’ll leave it at that. There’s thousands of Youtube videos and other resources that can give you any help you need.
Good luck and have fun drawing!
Thanks so much for the help!!!
