My team and I have been in the process of creating a game, and the scripting asset of it, is finished. However, I genuinely think that people who play vibes/hangout games is a smaller audience and maybe more sensitive towards realism and interaction. So I need some actual, accurate, and constructive opinions about the game. I don’t specifically want, “Oh this game is good, you should totally finish it”, or “I like this game, try adding more features”. I do not like these basic outlines, and of course you have the freedom to say it for those who just want to say it, that’s totally fine, but I do want a few constructive opinions of what the team could do to improve overall. I get that there are some few core features missing but it’s will in a WIP, and hoping that the general audience of vibe/hangout games like this game and will do well. This is so I can actually confirm that this game is legitimately going to well and not me having my doubts of course lol. I understand that not every game can do well, and I also apologize for my greed to trying to find some opinions, but I’ve just been trying to find some enjoyment for players and hoping this game could help.
Anyways, with that long explanation, TL:DR people, just don’t say that the “game is good” or “you should finish the game”, I need actual, good opinions.
The UI needs a different color scheme. If you look at any vibe game that’s popular, you’ll see the three main colors everyone seems to like: purple, pink, and dark blue. The UI uses these colors for buttons sometimes, then decides to use other colors as well. No one wants a white background with pink text on it. I’d also say you should either add a colorcorrectioneffect or just change the color of the buildings to adhere better to those colors.
The Inventory UI specifically just feels off; its color scheme should work, but it just doesn’t.
eh, to end my long, near non-sensical “me no like these colors!!!” rant, here’s just the takeaway from all this:
Stick to the main three generic vibe colors or don’t. You either make everything those colors or don’t use them at all; a mix of both just doesn’t look good. You also need to find the right shade. The “level reward” screen uses all the colors, but looks horrible. I’d recommend trying to use only two colors for it. (I.E black background with pink sidebars, black background with blue sidebars, etc).
I hope you can find some semi-good ideas in my rant.
Make the level up UI less intrusive so that the player doesn’t have to keep clicking off menus every few minutes. Maybe you could make it appear on one of the sides of the screen and disappear after a certain amount of time (still with a button to close it early).
When I went through the tutorial, there were a lot of times where one of the text slides was followed by a blank slide that I had to click past. This may be a bug.
First of all, Thanks for your opinion, I really respect it that you tested the game and came out of your way to give us feedback
For the level up, we have decided to make it a notification (the blue bar that comes up and goes) which is near what you want and is easy for the eyes
The second one is most likely a bug, I’ll look into it and make sure it’s all good before release
Once again, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it
Thanks for the build suggestion, we are not at all done with the builds or the models, we have a long way to finish on that road. I will keep that in our TODO list so we can make it look better, thanks!
We are really trying to make it cultural based compared to other vibe games that just simply towards more traditional vibes, of course there are some games that have some cultural additions, but this one is directly towards more cultural implicated vibe game. We aren’t here for much competition/competitive gameplay either, btw your question isn’t offensive. It’s honestly a good question to me and not find it offensive.
My only grips really are the UI and the Lighting, the lighting seems bland, I sadly can’t really judge UI since that’s not particularly my forte
Might I suggest adding a few things
• Make the lighting on the buildings and the streets more visible at night, because right now it just looks like total dark neon parts appearing out of no where.
• Changing Atmosphere and weather effects will also give the game personality instead of an stale look, effects like these plays a big role in vibe games which can either make it or break it, you have to set a warm atmosphere (Personality) of the game that will make players feel welcome to come and to continue playing the game.
As of right now, it just looks like it’s on default and cold.
Other than that, building wise it looks really spectacular.
I think in addition to some visual effects mentioned above, some bloom would work nicely on the screens to make them look more like they are actually glowing, rather than just not having lighting applied to them.
