Hey! I am Domderp999. How can I make a realistic tornado? Like the one in this picture :
I dont want to use beams… They look flat and are hard to work with. Particles have a maximum distance, which sucks. So, how can i make a tornado with this quality?
I think it is sometimes done with a solid model or particles. You could use a mesh tornado as your base and add particle effects to it? Do you want it to be functional to?
you could use it as if it was a dust storm but formed like a tornado, i think you can make it so its seen at far distances, who knows if it could be possible but it could be.
Maybe you could try to use a 3d mesh and a nice texture.
I didnt tried it, but, I would try to use 3 different sized meshes, with “tornado” textures, and blend their opacity dinamically while the tornado is moving so it would look realistic.
Some cows and cars flying around as objects would do the trick too! xD
It looks like this was made with using a beam you could try another approach by using a mesh and then import it inside studio to animate the rotation effect. You may want to learn how to create a tornado inside blender with using meshes if you wish to dive into creating visual effects or something similar to this.
An alternative would be using blender meshes and using a few modifiers to create a similar effect like this, it’ll take practice and patience to get the hang of making this sort of effect. At the start the image you attached to the thread looks like a beam using CFrame to rotate the movement.
If your wanting to learn how to create a tornado effect in 3D softwares there mainly made with using a cylinder and modifiers you’ll need to learn the ropes around blender; if you choose to go with that approach.
It might be laggy, but a really large number of small grey-brown parts flying in a cone shape around an invisible center part might look cool!
I really do agree with @Dev_Peashie about using a 3D mesh would be the best approach to making a tornado in-game.
I have made a few really bad examples on a 3D mesh tornado but maybe somebody else can make a better one.
Better than what I can do for sure.
Your meshes are great! @IAmRealTank. Keeping low poly is always the best approach.
Those 3 meshes at the same time, spinning using TweenService, using realistic textures, and playing with the opacity dinamically throu script, will look awesome as a tornado, Im pretty sure about it.
Even more basic 3d meshes will do the work. :3
You could use multiple smoke particles aligned to make a circle shape.
