Tracks - Details & Tutorial

Welcome to Tracks! a new paid access railway simulator out now for just R$ 25!

First off, what exactly is Tracks?
Tracks is a railway simulator esque game where you can drive trains, buy trains, and build your own maps/railways.

Will it become free?
Yes, once every single feature is set & done and a (possible) mission/job system is added.

How do I play?

Navigating the Main Menu

A lot of the main menu UI features are self explanatory. The editor button takes you to a menu with your saved slots, the shop takes you to the engine shop, and Inventory takes you to your inventory.

You can copy and paste a server ID that your friend sends you and paste it in the “Server ID” Text Box. If it’s an editor server, click “Join Editor Server”. Otherwise click the “Connect To Server” button.

Engine Spawning

Upon joining the Main Map OR a Live Play Session, you are instantly greeted with the engine spawner. Select an engine from your inventory to use, then navigate to the “Next Category” button where you will then be prompted to make a consist.
IF YOU WANT NO CONSIST, PROCEED TO THE NEXT CATEGORY WITHOUT CLICKING ROLLING STOCK
After that, click the location which you want to spawn in, and choose the track. Bear in mind that consist loading can take anywhere from 5-15 seconds.

Controlling The Engine

Controls are listed on the left-hand side of the speedometer menu.
Basic Controls:
W- Increase Speed
S- Decrease Speed
Hold Space- Slam on whistle/horn
B- Brakes

To actually get moving, you first need to click the Regulator button to open it.
Then choose your reverser settings by clicking the button. You can only change these settings if you are going 5 MPH or below.

After youve opened the regulator & set the reverser, hold W to get going and S to slow down.

While running, your fuel will gradually decrease. If your fuel runs out, you have no choice but to respawn or have another player push you to a fueling station.

The Loop has no fueling stations

In your editor map, you must manually place a coal hopper, water tower, or any of the 3 fueling hitboxes on the track for a proper refueling spot. To refuel your engine, roll it under the hitbox and hold the popup key until your fuel is back at 100.

THE RAILWAY EDITOR

The railway editor takes a bit of getting used to. Click the editor button in the main menu and select a slot to create your map. There is a menu on the left-hand side providing a list of all the current resources you’re able to use.

** GO CLOSE TO THE GROUND BEFORE TRYING TO PLACE ANYTHING **

To move a resource you’ve spawned, use your LMB to drag it around the plot.

Use the rotation tools on the popup menu to twist & turn your object around.

Insert a number in the Size Slot to edit your object’s size.

EDITOR ENGINES

To spawn an engine in your plot, first spawn either one of the “StripOfTrack” objects.(Electrified or not, it doesnt matter) OR the turntable. Then, click on your track piece. Click spawn engine OR spawn rolling stock, and choose what you want to be spawned in the track piece.

ACTUALLY PLAYING YOUR MAP

If you try to play your map without first creating a spawnpoint, you’ll be met with an error. This is because the game needs spawn locations to register your engine.

To actually make a spawnpoint, navigate to the “Configure Spawners” button in The Editor, and create a new spawnpoint. A new spawnpoint can’t have the same name as a previous spawnpoint.

Once you’ve created an actual spawner, you’re still not done. Select a straight track piece or a junction and press “Add To Spawn Location”. A list of all current editor spawners will appear. Click the spawner you want to add the track piece too.

Congrats! You’ve made a spawnpoint! You can now proceed to the editor play session.

HOW TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS

first, in order to play your map in multiplayer mode, you first have to actually load into the map. Refer to the previous section to know how to do so. Then, once you’re loaded in, spawn an engine, and then hold the Tab key on your keyboard. A playerlist UI should show up, with the server ID at the top. Send the server id to your friend via whatever chatting app you choose, and tell them to paste in the server ID in the main menu.

FOR JOINING SERVERS MADE FROM EDITOR-CREATED MAPS, YOU MUST CLICK “JOIN EDITOR SERVER”. FOR JOINING THE DEFAULT MAP, WHICH IS THE LOOP, CLICK THE REGULAR “CONNECT TO SERVER” BUTTON.
