Let’s see…
Tradewinds is an open-world trading and exploration game where you can trade, battle, craft, mine, farm, and much more!
Tradewinds… I’ve been planning to make a trading game for a while now. I’ve always loved and adored the idea of having to trade resources to reach success in a video game. Tradewinds, while still in very early development is a combination of two of my favourite genres…
- Open world
- Trading and merchants
Firstly, let’s discuss what the ideas and concepts of the game really are in the first place. The game begins as a humble medieval open-world with long grass fields, pleasant buildings, and beautiful scenery. Players can farm, mine, battle, and purchase items from a variety of unique shops. However, as the game reveals itself deeper, you’ll realize you’re missing something…
something you’ve already forgotten to do…
“Am I missing something?”, you say to yourself as you ponder the reason you’re engaged in such a default Roblox game…
Suddenly, a flash of light appears in your mind. A metaphor of the very thing hidden in plain sight.
It’s time to trade.
You rush to a player, hit the slash key as fast as you possibly can, then spam the following words into the text box…
“HEY! I WANT TO TRADE!”
I know how you feel, it feels like a dream. It’s there. Right in front of you. The trading menu. It’s rounded corners, semi-transparent dark background, and that empty inventory.
You’re excited and electrified. But something’s wrong. You don’t know what to do. You rush to your chrome tab. And search…
HOW TO PLAY TRADEWINDS ROBLOX
The page slowly loads in front of you. You’re eyes glow in anticipation. You’re standard 1080P 60Hz monitor brights up as the video results start flowing onto the screen.
The first video pops up…
Tradewinds Tutorial - JoshieJosh (softdevv)
You move your mouse faster than you’ve ever turned your camera in Phantom Forces, and you click that legendary video. The first tutorial.
“What?” You say to yourself. “Why isn’t it loading?”
You reach over to your mouse once again but realize…
Your hand isn’t touching the mouse anymore…
Your mouse is transforming…
It’s… it’s…
It’s transforming into a…
You turn your head in confusion and find your speakers fading away…
“What’s happening? Is that?”
BEEP BEEP. BEEP BEEP
It’s the sound of your alarm clock. The one given to you by your mom for you wake up for school.
“JOSH!!!” You hear your name being screamed.
It’s your mom. She’s calling for you to wake up and get ready for school.
It was a dream. A silly dream. Well, I mean… was it?
Ha. I tricked you into getting to read my little story didn’t I? Well, it was all for you to get ready for my game, Tradewinds. Well… no guarantees here. That little story might not have been as interesting as I thought it would be. Maybe it was a little too childish or cringe? Well that doesn’t matter anymore. I just started making the game. I would say 10% done.
Yes, yes. I know… The rules of developing include not hyping up your game before the game is even 50% done (or 80%) but I was bored and I’m on holidays so I can’t necessarily work on the game (and i don’t care)
I’m so dedicated to this game. I’m just so deep into the creation I’ve thought up in my head. I can’t just not tell everyone about it! If you want to know more about the game, well… I guess you have to wait. Since I can’t link a server, I’m not going to do that just yet. I might do something more creative…
Make another story!
Probably not now. But soon, if I see that this is actually getting read and there’s some interaction in this post.
Well, I’m going to leave now. Sorry for kind of tricking you and blabbing on some nonsense story. But you did click on this post, so you can’t blame me. I’m not normally like this so don’t worry, I just feel like being a bit more creative. I just want to see if this works.
Farewell for now!
