I heard that placing decals on top of transparent parts would create lag within your game, especially within the mobile platform. Can anyone explain to me why this happens and describe potential workaround? I would like to place decals to simulate wall texture without having to build around the part, which would create uneven surfaces upon my walls (the material of my parts would not line up as they are separated)
Are you planning on placing Decals on all sides or just a couple sides? More Decals of course would cause more lag but I don’t see why it would cause extreme lag as it is an image.
Also on Parts that are Transparent you don’t have Roblox trying to generate the video image of the Part in question.
Did you get this information from a decent source or just some random person on the internet?
If you want to test it try putting 50,000 Parts in a blank place and seeing what kind of lag you get, then make them all transparent and paste Decals on each one and see how much lag that gives you.
Unsure where you heard this myth from but if you want to place decals on your transparent parts do it however many times you’d like. It is highly unlikely that it will cause significant performance drop.
If life gave you decals, then put them on transparent parts.
