Trouble with gaining attraction on new game

Hey, I just recently released a game that I have been working quite hard on for some time. I thought that the gameplay was fun and most of the people i asked to try it also thought the same. Sadly, people who join dont think its too good?

The game is essentially:

  • Round starts
  • 10 seconds to find hiding spot
  • Find the candle to become the hunter
  • Kill as many people as u can until the candle again (and a new player becomes hunter)

Win conditions

  • Main condition - Last one standing
  • Secondary condition - Player with most kills

I would absolutely love to hear your opinions and what you guys think is good / bad about the game or if the whole idea just sucks.

Thanks.

Im confused on why this game isnt being played more, i havent played many rounds since there wasnt many people but this is a good game!
the game was made last year november, so i think its just one of these that goes slowly popular
you could try to sponsor the game and see if that works
or post it somewhere else and maybe a trailer for it.

also small suggestion
maybe add more music or ambience to the game? its very quiet

I see, thank you so much for the feedback.

I completely agree, it does feel a bit empty inside of the game, thats definitely something i can do

It is a well-made game. The animation, sound effects, and UI is good. The game concept is simple and easy to learn. But it isn’t very fun and it’s not what I imagined before I started playing. In short: it’s too simple and doesn’t lean into a specific feel. It’s not spooky enough, not suspenseful enough, not thrilling enough, not puzzling enough. My experience as a hunter was “Grab thing, find other thing (conveniently an ability that reveals where thing is), kill thing” and as a non-hunter “See thing, walk away from thing”–very straightforward thought process.

Try designing your game to be more like a killer-horror film, in which a group of people struggle to find an escape from a relentless killer. Finding the candle should feel like playing musical chairs–long and suspenseful and you’re risking everything for the win. The map should have more impact on the gameplay–places to hide, obstacles to put between yourself and the hunter, more interesting that just a wide area with seemingly randomly scattered models.

Interesting, i like your feedback.

My idea was to create a game dofferent from the classic games of “spawn as a killer or prey” and make it more dynamic by allowing for role changing.

I guess it isnt so great of an idea then?

how did you get so many visits on your game already? all my games have maybe less than 300

(also game looks really fun, ill try it in a bit)
