Troubleshooting Custom Character Caging for Layered Clothing?

(this isnt my first time making custom avatars with 3d clothing functionality, but its my first having so much trouble)

1. What do you want to achieve? layered clothing on a custom avatar

2. What is the issue? No matter what cage template i use - it always ends up heavily distorting when imported to roblox

3. What solutions have you tried so far? Looked for info from various sources, reshaped the cages from scratch like 5 times, each time used different roblox provided templates for caging.

I mainly used the rthro cage template and the classic cage template.

also note the glitches arent from the custom layered clothing imo - they work fine on existing rigs.

you need to make sure your cage UV’s are not changed from the provided version from roblox lol. i accidentally had “correct faces” on when editing the cages!

To fix it i just copied over the UVs from the official cage model to the custom one!
