Trusted Connection Not Working For User

We are both age-verified in a group for users 13+, but we are outside the age group to chat with each other.

We are trying to establish a trusted connection via the QR code, but it isn’t working for either of us, no matter what we do. We are also scanning a live QR code, (even if the QR code is sent as a screenshot), but that is not working either, despite it working just 2 days ago with someone else.

It has worked for me with a couple of other users, but it refuses to work for this one user. It only sends out a normal connection, despite saying a connection request is scanned from a QR Code.

Both our apps are up to date as well.

Both my friend and I have been friends for a good while now, even before the age group update, because we play games together. We tried upgrading the connection to a trusted connection, but it only shows that we are friended and does not offer the trusted connection option.

We also unfriended each other, but that didn’t work.

Expected behavior

We expected that after scanning the QR code, my friend would send a request, and I would accept the request, and we would be trusted connections.

I have a similar issue, but figured it out. What I believe you have to do is have the person who is OLDER send the request first. At least that’s what worked for me.

We have done that, but that is also not working. It just seems to not work at all for me and my friend. I have done it with other people and it works as you expect. I think it is something inconsistent and/or is a bug.

We even tried this back in January but it never worked either, but I thought it was because we were doing it wrong since I learned more since then and we tried doing it again this past couple of days.

Maybe some additional information, but my friend used an ID and I did the facial verification, unsure if that could be a reason why it is not working and is causing a bug because of that?

I just got nerw information.

If you’re over 18 plus and they’re over 18 plus you can’t be friends with them (or at elast trusted friends)

We are both in two different age groups. We meet Roblox’s criteria for trusted connections, but it is not working at all.

That person has also commented that it does not work for another one of their friends and is the same Upgrading to Trusted Connection via QR code (still) does not work - #21 by ControlCoreAngel.

So me and my friend kept trying different things today, and it still does not work, despite it working for other users I have done this with. It really seems like it is my friend for whatever reason as they tried it with another person and it did not work.

We really aren’t sure if there is any hidden factors it could be as we looked over Roblox support articles and my friend emailing support.

We should be qualified to be trusted connections through the QR Code system according to the support article but nothing we are doing is just not working.

Hello! Wanted to give a quick update: it still isn’t working, and my friend and I are still trying to get it working to no success.

I have experienced the same issue as you, and this is what worked for me:

You both must:

  • First fully unfriend each other on Roblox
  • Have the older individual provide the QR code. This means the person in the younger age group must scan the QR code.
  • Wait about 2-3 days for it to upgrade after sending.

I’m not sure why this is, but it doesn’t make you trusted connections immediately. The time range of 2-3 days could also be different much like how Pending Robux is. I’ve done this with exactly 3 people so far, and it’s been consistently this way.

I will try waiting 2-3 days.

It is weird, though, how it worked instantly with other people I did this with.

All the other things you mentioned, aside from the 2-3 days of waiting, we have already done, though.

The only thing we never tried was waiting, since we usually unfriend each other the next day to try again. I will report back whether that works, but if it does, Roblox should really clarify that in their support article.

I can’t provide a reasonable explanation for why it’s that way. In my experience, it seems like the amount of days variate slightly. It could be some form of verification behind the scenes by actual mods which is why it takes longer or their system is just slow to mitigate the odds of someone being exploited quickly through a loophole that Roblox hasn’t gotten figured out yet

(ie. Developer or User uploads partial bits of a QR code to create something scannable within Experience. This puts younger and more gullible individuals at risk, regardless of the age group)

That actually would make a lot of sense. It’s like how some uploads to Roblox take slightly longer and some are instant.

So I don’t think it is the waiting 2-3 days, as it’s been about that time (although giving it a day or 2 more as it was the weekend).

I did get a response from a Roblox engineer saying it’s something to do with it not being rolled out to certain countries and areas yet, but I am still waiting for a response to see if that country/area has it fully rolled out yet or not.

Will keep people who are having this problem updated, as that could likely be the reason!

Actually I just got a response!

It is because of the countries it’s not rolled out too yet.

For those who are experiencing this check to see if it is likely because of you and your friends countries and if it is fully rolled out.

I was also wondering if there is somewhere we can find which countries it hasn’t rolled out to, and a way to check whether it is fully rolled out in a country yet.

The Roblox Engineer said he will contact someone to post the countries where trusted connections are not yet fully rolled out. He said he would update me when he finds out more.

But I can confirm for my friend and me that it is dealing with which countries it is rolled out to, though.

Kinda BS that Roblox implemented the face scanning update immediately, but trusted connections are still being rolled out.

Anyhow, keep us updated! Would really like to know which countries haven’t gotten trusted connections

This makes complete sense now that I think about it. It’s possible the friends I did this with got it unlocked in their country, explaining the delayed upgraded trusted connection status by a variable amount of time. Just made another trusted connection and it also is delayed right now and hasn’t upgraded. Looking forward to the possible list or confirmation of intentional verification delays.
