"Try performing a Windows Clean Boot" crash

Hello.

Whenever I join any game using the Roblox Player (not Roblox Studio), my game eventually crashes with the error containing the text, “Try performing a Windows Clean Boot.” This started around last week, and it’s become an issue as I love playing games and testing my own games with friends on Roblox.

The time at which the game crashes varies somewhat drastically, I’ve been able to play game for about 45 seconds before a crash on average, with the lowest times being around 5 seconds, and the highest probably around 2 to 3 minutes.

I’ve heard the issue arises from multiple sources, third-party software, VR issues, invalid system files, drivers, and more. I did not download any programs when this started.

I do not use or own third-party software for Roblox, no launchers, no modified clients, not even Cheat Engine rotting away in my Programs folder not being used. I do not own a VR headset. I’ve restarted my computer. I’ve turned my computer off for a couple minutes and turned it back on. I’ve checked my startup apps. I’ve reinstalled Roblox multiple times. I’ve even scanned my system for invalid files using sfc /scannow in the command prompt.
All of these “fixes” either only worked temporarily or didn’t work at all.
The only thing I haven’t done is check my drivers (except for my GPU which is up to date I believe), actually do a Clean Boot, and other risky things that people say I should do to my system in order to fix this.

The only thing that has worked for a bit was restarting my computer, but that was only one time, it happened again the day after if I recall correctly. Attempts with restarting my computer after that mostly didn’t work, except for turning my computer off for a couple minutes and turning it back on, and even then, it crashed the day after.

I do not want to do a clean boot as it seems unnecessary due to the fact I have not installed any new programs, I have even uninstalled a few unused programs due to this issue, but I might eventually if this persists.

If anyone could help me out, I would be very thankful.

If I need to move this to “Help and Feedback,” I can, just let me know.

Update, I’ve just performed a Clean Boot, played Desert Bus for 10 minutes and no crash. Tried again without a Clean Boot, and it didn’t crash.

Either the Clean Boot somehow fixed it, or it’s just another one of those “when I sign out it’ll break again” issues, just like with turning off my computer, waiting, and turning it back on.

Update, It did not fix anything. I can barely open a game.

Same issue here–my Windows 11 is version 24H2, OS build 26120.3964.

I’m getting Windows Insider updates, by the way. Perhaps this is related?

EDIT: Xbox app version now experiences the same issue just after updating it (version 2.673.713.0); however, the error notification does not appear, and the app will crash even without launching a game.

I use Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100.4061), I am very glad I am not the only one. I don’t think I’m getting any Windows Insider updates though.

I too am having this issue, same windows version

Roblox runs fine on my laptop, which has Win11 Home version 23H2 (build 22631.5335).

So, this issue may have a connection to Win11 version 24H2 or one of the most recent builds for it.

Can you verify your version? I don’t see an entry on the release health page called “24H4”.

Oops I meant to type 24H2, Lol

Also yeah, this might be a Windows update messing with Roblox. Last 24H2 update was 5/13/2025, and this started to happen around that time. Wow.

Tried launching Roblox Player again after another Windows Insider update: build 26120.4151. Seems it’s working for now.

I’m still on the same version and I haven’t had any issues myself these past few days, Windows does have an update though.

Haven’t had any issues, my build is now 26100.4202 and I saw my computer update before I went to bed. I’m pretty sure this was from a Windows 11 update because of this video.

I don’t know if the people at Microsoft fixed it or the people at Roblox fixed it, but whatever is the case I’m glad I can play Roblox again.
I think I’ll try closing the thread now, thank you everyone who replied!!

Ok nvm you can’t close it LOL my fault
