Monetizing better with Gifting Support
First of all, why should you add gifting support to your Experience? There’s a lot of reasons - gifting makes your Experience more social, more fun, but also it allows for more purchases. A huge fan of your game might have all items collected themselves. But with gifting, they can continue purchasing items for other players in your Experience.
Compliance & Safety in regards to Gifting: Avoiding the “Ban Hammer”
Roblox is extremely strict regarding monetization. If your gifting logic is perceived as deceptive or circumvents Roblox’s economy, your account and game are at risk. Here’s the main things to avoid
- The Risk of Cross-Trading
- Cross-trading is the act of giving a gift in Game A in exchange for an item in Game B, or for real-world money (USD/PayPal).
- The Shop Maker Pro plugin doesn’t support “Trade” windows, and do not script something like this, that would allow the swapping of gifted items for other assets.
- Randomized Gifting (Gambling Policy)
- If you allow players to gift “Mystery Boxes” or randomized items, you must disclose the odds.
- Experiences that fail to show the percentage chance of each item in a randomized gift are flagged under the Gambling Policy and removed from the platform. If the gift is a loot box, the Ul must clearly display the “drop rates” to the buyer before they checkout.
- Again, SMP doesn’t support gambling out of the box, and if you were to script your own randomized item system, ensure you follow Roblox’s ToS to avoid being banned
