Tweak "UI Less" Mode a little bit, new "ESC" toggle - FFlagAddUILessMode

Note: While this is in the Website Feature Category. This post here is for the App

As a Roblox player, it is currently too hard to

Open the Roblox Menu, because you have to use the Cursor now and can’t press ESC to open it up anymore.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because

I need ESC to open the Roblox Menu, not hide it. Just like how every other game works, that isn’t Roblox.

There’s games that are either loud, or something, that needs rapid fast action, to etc. either Lower the Volume, Block/Mute whoever, etc. you get the idea.

And moving the cursor to the top left, requires “aim” and “precision”, compared to pressing the ESC key.

The thing about Roblox, is that you can create games, while Roblox is a game, and you run games on it. But Roblox is the “wrapper” around these games. And I want to access the wrapper’s menu through ESC at all times.

I was asked on how to disable it.

To disable this simply turn off FFlagAddUILessMode.

Suggestion

What if you can hold down ESC for a little bit, which would then hide/show the UI? (Incase Roblox doesn’t want to do some key combination)

And then on mobile someone could hold down on the Roblox Icon and then go near the corner to make some arrow appear, to make the Chrome UI reappear or something.

I believe that Roblox should keep everything platform level and everything that is necessary within easy access of the overlay menu. All other UI that Roblox provides should be able to be disabled, or ideally code accessible to devs.

With this “esc” to toggle coreUI visibility feature, the utility features are also getting disabled, such as chat.

For this feature to succeed, there needs to be a separation between Roblox Core UI and Optional Utility UI.

Is this specific to certain games or rolled out to only a certain number of users? I don’t have this update, I can press Esc just fine.

this doesn’t exactly seem to be the case

why put it in website then? why not move it?

Yes. Why was this even changed? Why is hiding the menu considered more useful than opening it? Why isn’t this a button in the menu? This is a user experience nightmare

Matter of fact PC users shouldn’t even need the UI in the top corner when we can just press “ESC” or “/” :l

It should be the complete opposite of what you’re describing

They turned it off.

There’s no category for it. But Staff said it can be put anywhere and it will receive the same attention internally as all other posts.
