Are UGC able to have roblox materials on them? Could I give a crown the built-in metal material to make it look better?

No you can’t put roblox materials on your ugc, but you can put a texture that looks like the materials.

What happens if I try? Will it not show up or will roblox just reject the ugc?

try, or you search on google for roblox materials and you put the materials on your object.

I don’t think there will be any texture (I tested it a long time ago but I don’t remember too much).

You can put the texture, but it won’t have the mappings (it won’t look 3D).

Yes. Metals and ice and glass won’t look shiny, but that’s about it. Plastic and grass and such will look fine.
Is there a way to make them have a shine?
No, unfortunately not. They will all have the same shininess as the Plastic material.
Would it be possible to use a SurfaceAppearance?
I’m not sure if ugc accessories support pbr materials.
UGCs do not support SurfaceAppearance.
