I recently attempted ultra-realism, again.
Thoughts?
In my opinion it kind of looks like a regular game. You did a great job with the shadows and lighting but its not ultra realistic, its kind of just realistic.
I feel like you should add a painting or something on that wall because its looking kind of plain and like put a plant or something on that mini table thing back there, it would add more details and less plain.
something that takes away from the attempt at realism is the fact that the build itself is unrealistic, and the textures too. the textures should probably be PBR if you are gonna do realism, the proportions of the wooden railing looks a bit off. Also it kind of looks like a house and usually houses have windows at staircases meaning no natural light which can help. I cant really help on the lighting tho
oh and for some ideas so i dont just leave you with this criticism, try to study references for things you model or build, so then when you create your own without reference you understand the meaning of certain designs, their functions and such
Ulta-realism isn’t only believable geometry and high-quality textures, but architecture, furniture, source-of-light, etc.
Going back to the source-of-light, I’m meaning the fact that I see no lights creating all the brightness, it looks slightly unrealistic without the light coming from anywhere. And if it’s daytime, and there is a window behind the camera, what about nighttime? Does it just get pitch-black due to no artificial lighting?
Besides these small things it’s really good though
Walls need decoration, lighting is not by any means ultra-realistic, floor looks like fake wood. Other than that, you did good.
